I turn my back to the wind
To catch my breath
Before I start off again
Driven on
Without a moment to spend
To pass an evening
With a drink and a friend

I let my skin get too thin
I'd like to pause
No matter what I pretend
Like some pilgrim
Who learns to transcend
Learns to live
As if each step was the end

Time stand still
I'm not looking back
But I want to look around me now
Time stand still
See more of the people
And the places that surround me now
Time stand still

Freeze this moment
A little bit longer
Make each sensation
A little bit stronger
Experience slips away
Experience slips away
Time stand still

I turn my face to the sun
I close my eyes
I let my defenses down
All those wounds
That I can't get unwound

I let my past go too fast
No time to pause
If I could slow it all down
Like some captain
Whose ship runs aground
I can wait until the tide comes around

Time stand still
I'm not looking back
But I want to look around me now
Time stand still
See more of the people
And the places that surround me
Now

Freeze this moment
A little bit longer
Make each sensation
A little bit stronger

Make each impression
A little bit stronger
Freeze this motion
A little bit longer

The innocence slips away
The innocence slips away
Time stand still
Time stand still

I'm not looking back
But I want to look around me now
See more of the people
And the places that surround me now
Time stand still

Summer's going fast
Nights growing colder
Children growing up
Old friends growing older

Freeze this moment
A little bit longer
Make each sensation
A little bit stronger
Experience slips away
Experience slips away
The innocence slips away

I am LOVING the RP rock mix!  Turns out that Bill likes Rush!
If we're looking for a heartfelt melodic Rush song try : 'Second Nature' off 'Hold you Fire' or 'Losing it' from 'Signals' - both proper songs! And a laid back Geddy to boot.

Good choices, AphidA - I like "Dreamline," too.  {#Mrgreen}

(This one is saved somewhat by the presence of Aimee Mann, and Geddy's relatively subdued wailing.)

JAZZ?

They are one of the original heavy metal/hard rock bands.  {#Dancingbanana_2}
And yes, they are technically one of the greatest bands ever, but jazz....never heard that one!
Next thing is, you'll compare them to Air Supply!!!

This tune took them out of their element a bit. It really worked though...great stuff!

Completely disagree. And I don't think I'm alone.
I used to hate Rush in the 80s, but their music sounds better with age.  Nice that RP is bringing back a few of Rush's better songs and this one is definitely one of their better ones.
If you listen you hear the sentiment in the song. Hearfelt.
Coming up close to time standing still.
Rush: anytime. Time has and will continue to reflect well on those three and their music.
Love this one - and Aimee Mann as a counter-vocal is just icing on the cake.  Yeah..... Good groove.{#Sunny}
Fantastic song! Fantastic band. Keep playin' em! Eh?

Never liked Rush. I probably dislike this one the least.
I don't really have anything constructive to add to the comments list, other than to offset the recent negative comments.  I've always been Rush fan, and even this stuff, which isn't a great example of their work, is still pretty good.

I was never a huge fan of Rush, but I always loved this song.

Yeah, I grew up across the lake, and was surprised at the people up there that had the same opinion I had.

And, ya know. . . . I tried. . .From what I have seen, they are a great bunch of guys - and damn accomplished musicians, and they try to be deep, and try to make a statement, try to make a difference, but it is completely lost on me.  My opinion is however, that per capita, Canada churns out as much musical talent as any country - I'd bet more.

They should have let Amy sing the whole song.

Aimee Mann really took them outside their normal style on this tune, which is one my favorites from a long, long list of great Rush tunes.

Complete crap. I'd rate it lower than a 1 if I could.

The single charted #3 on the U.S. mainstream rock charts

Released as a single in 1987 credited to "Rush (featuring Aimee Mann)", "Time Stand Still" was also a minor hit single in the United Kingdom, peaking at #41 in the U.K. Singles Chart.

+1.
Tedious 80s pop-rock without any soul. All style no substance. Too much studio stuff (all that reverb...).

Rush is mush.

Holy cow is this song timely, as I am under so much stress lately.  {#Headache}
Aww, this one takes me back.  I love these guys (most of the time).
hell to the yeah :)
Aimee Mann really sounds good on this. I actually like this quite a bit as there is less of Geddy Lee's nails of the chalk board vocals and some actual harmony. As always on the instrumental side, the bands saving grace, they are excellent.

That's surprising that you of all people would say that.

Reminds me of Jefferson Airship.
I actually LOVE Rush, but find this one a bit '80's and ho-hum.  I'm sure if I actually listened to the lyrics, I would enjoy it much more.

THANKS FOR PLAYING THIS!!!!!

Not a big Rush fan.  This one is not bad.

I've always loved their musicianship, but not so much the songwriting ... but this song is an exception.   This is a nicely written song.

Me too.  Sometimes I pull out some of the old stuff.

I used to love Rush. Exposure to Canadian radio (All Rush, All the time w/ some BTO) has soured those memories.

It's okay in moderation.  Not as cool as I thought it was in high school though.

{#Yes} Peart gets a fair ammount of flack for being pretentious or too existential when it comes to lyrics (especially the early stuff) but he has written some really great stuff.

Oh yeah. Geddy Lee was actually said to be responsible for "discovering" her way back when...
Rush twice in as many days? is this a new development for RP, or just something I hadn't noticed earlier...
I listen to RP all day at work - nice to see some stuff getting played that I don't hear often.

THANKS a lot, I really love this one!

I'm not a big Rush fan but this one Rush song really does it for me.  Go figure!!

I love Aimee Mann backup vovals on this one.

Totally agree with Spumoni.  I can understand how Rush creates some true loathing, and they don't have the spot in my life that they used to, but I love this song, the lyrics are the best that Neal Peart ever wrote.  Great great tune, that I appreciate even more now, with eighteen years passed in my life since this came out, they have much more significance.  Nice play, Bill!
dumb
Then consider this a therapy session.  Proceed with the Rush treatment, Dr. Bill!

Bravo, Bill!{#Drummer}
well, as i live and breathe, Rush on RP! this would not be my choice from their catalog by any stretch though
Geddy Lee, I wonder if he speaks like an ordinary guy

{#Drummer}Favorite Rush song and favorite drummer!  Time creates an elusive longing for those magical moments in memories mist, in retro they become those once in our lifespan moments - if only we could freeze those moments, to savor, just a little bit longer... This song stirs at the cellular level from the tips of hair to the soles of feet.
Thank You RP !
Great to hear Rush in the rotation ~
then followed by the Pixies !
LOVE IT !!!

PLEASE, no more Rush. Early childhood trauma. I have disliked this band since before I had any idea who they were.
This Sucks. That said, I love RP.
I have never felt like switching the channel on Radio Paradise before now. I guess there's a first time for everything
The only Rush song I've ever liked.
I came looking for this one. Let's hear it! P.S. I've been watching the Rush in Rio DVD recently and it smokes! I never really got it before ... now I get it.
I was quite the Rush fan for many years, and lately have been getting back into 'em. I still like this one too. Peart's lyrics are affecting, all the more that (gulp) seventeen years have passed since that college student first heard this.
I'm not a big Rush fan... but I really like this one. I just love Amiee Mann's back-up vocals on this one. And it's an upload that got accepted immediately!
Of course, anytime one of my 820+ uploads  gets accepted is amazing.
