Don't you worry bout what you've been told
Cause honey I ain't even close to cold
It's kinda soon to fall in love again
But sometimes the best that you can do is just jump back in
I got me a fearless heart
Strong enough to get you through the scary part
It's been broken many times before
A fearless heart just comes back for more

Folks'll tell you that I'm just no good
But I wouldn't hurt you honey if I could
I can't promise this'll work out right
But it would kill me darlin' if we didn't even try

I admit I fall in love a lot
But I nearly always give it my best shot
I know you must think I'm the reckless kind
But I want a lady with a fearless heart just like mine

Whoa!  This really jars after George Harrison.
Wow, some harsh comments for an artist I really like. Ah well, to each his own I spoze. She's great live btw.

5.5? "New Country"? The wonderful and talented Ms Colvin is at a whole different level than this, I'm amazed at the odd comments and poor ratings.

This is from 1996 when nobody could have imagined how bad new country would be by now.

May I point out that a whiff is still a whiff now matter when it happened.

Reminds me of Patty Griffin, and that's not a bad thing.

Okay, I thought I owned every CD Shawn put out. Why haven't I heard this tune before?
Funny, I went to this page to say the exact same thing. Guess I have to go out and get this cd (which I believe also features a cover of the Beatles "I Need You")

Not her best song but anything by her is good...
This is actually a Steve Earle song...

Always DID like Shawn. 8. (Excellent line-up these past 5 or 6 btw) Shawn, Beth, Chrissie, Sam...

This is one of the few songs on RP that make me turn the volume all the way down until it's over! She's just too enthusiastic or something, really bugs me.
My thoughts exactly!

I like the Steve Earle rendition better. This just sounds too thin and contrived...or something.
IMHO great song as done by Steve Earl. Her voice is a little too chipmunk like for me.

Geez louise, not Shawn Colvin again!!! Couldn't we hear some Heather Nova instead? I KNOW! Let's play "Gloomy Sunday."
I agree - Worst song I have ever heard on RP

Bill should play the Steve Earle version. It rocks! I only gave this version a 5.

LOVE the song (as done by Steve Earle), not too keen on the singer.
Hopeful lyrics. Especially if you're getting back on the horse after a rough breakup.

Commentors on RP love to throw around the word "pretentious". I think that's pretentious.

Nice! Sam and Shawn within a couple songs of each other...
Guitarists--don't let this happen to you. Supress the urge to end songs with spastic strumming.
Listen to "Another Plane Went Down" or almost anything else from the Whole New You album, then call her pretentious!

Sorry to tell you, she didn't write this song.
Shawn is one of the best song writers there is and her performances are memroable, personal and fun. You guys dissing her are missing out. Get Fat City and hear some incredible craft... If you don't like her fine, but at least respect her...
:puke: BORING AS USUAL. I've seen her a couple times as an opening act and she was BORING then as well.
Well--at least the crowd loved it.

Definitely not Shawn at her best...
You're exactly right!
ahhh... this is the first song I learned and actually worked up the nerve to play and sing out loud. Love the song, and its not a bad version. Better than mine even. :)
Definitely not Shawn at her best...

I like it!
jezus, she sounds more childlike than britney spears looks..did she ever hear a rock song?
Doesn\'t sound quite convincing enough for me. She should smoke more whisky and drink more cigars, methinks. :p
Kudos to Steve for writing and Shawn for singing it! :bounce:
Blech.
Ever since I saw her open up for Neil Young on his "Harvest Moon" tour I have been a fan of hers. I mean how can you not ...after such a magical night as that was. It was a beautiful harvest full moon night in an outdoor venue in Indianapolis. Just her and her guitar singing, so beautifully, so captivatingly. It was a perfect match to Neil in one of his acoustic phases with just him his guitars and banjo's etc. I had to find out who that gal was. That week Rolling Stone had a small article covering her "Fat City" release and so I started spreading the word as much as possible and until that "Sunny..." song came out and then is was hard to get away from hearing her. I was no longer needed to champion her "cause". But still... I like thinking back to that cool September night when I was blown away and it seemed like no one had ever heard of her.
Music, nowadays, often sounds so \'calculated\', so it\'s moving to listen to someone still singing straight from the heart. Even more so, \'cause she\'s got such a wonderful, bright voice.
Steve Earl is the best songwriter Nashville has ever turned its back on!! Americana at its best! :)
I like some of her stuff (when I\'m in a mellow mood), but this just seems uninspired and disjointed to me.
I like Shawn, even if this is just a cover. ;)
i\'ve never liked ANYTHING by this artist. either its because its late at night and i\'m suggestible....or i really do like it, now. hard to say. perhaps because its not hers? hmm.
gag/hmm...
