Always like Shawn Colvin, but I'll never forget seeing her with her band in in a small club in Munich about 20 years ago. We were sitting a table right in front, very intimate. After about a (very nice but very short) 45 minute set, she leaned over to the bass player and said "Let's play killing the blues and get the hell out of here...". It was fairly expensive and I was turned off by that comment, like we weren't worth it. I lost some respect for Shawn that night.

A "good song" that I don't particularly like. The tune doesn't grab me, but I appreciate it's unique construction. It doesn't follow a formula. To me, I've always felt the mark of a good song is when a number of really good artists interpret it all over the map. Ref: John Prine, Allison Krauss, Robert Plant. No two people do it even remotely the same.
