I wanted so badly,
Somebody other than me,
Staring back at me,
But you were gone, gone, gone.

I wanted to see you walking backwards,
And get the sensation of you coming home,
I wanted to see you walking away from me,
Without the sensation of you leaving me alone.

Time and time again,
Time and time again,
Time and time again,
I can't please myself.

I wanted the ocean to cover over me,
I wanna sink slowly without getting wet,
Maybe someday I won't be so lonely,
And I'll walk on water every chance I get.

Time and time again,
Time and time again,
Time and time again,
I can't please myself.

So when are you coming home, sweet Angel?
You leaving me alone? all alone?
Well, well if I'm drowning darling,
You'll come down this way on your own.

I wish I was travelling on a freeway,
Beneath this graveyard western sky,
Gonna set fire to this city,
And out into the desert,
Yeah we're gonna ride.

Time and time again,
Time and time again,
Time and time and time again,
I can't please myself.

I can't please myself, and I,
I can't please nobody else and time again,
Time and time again,
Time and time and time and time again,
I can't please myself, no, no, no, no.

Bill, put this band out to pasture.
Along with John Cougar and the Cranberries to keep them company.

Bill, if they're going out to the pasture can I go out as well, please!

"Counting Crows' debut album "August and Everything After" was an instant success on its release in late 1993 and went on to sell over 7 million copies in America. In the UK it charted at No. 16" Not sure I'd call that charity.
Horrid.

Mr. David Byrne would like a word with you.
I think this album needs to be put in the Smithsonian or on another space probe heading to other worlds. Classic as classic gets from the 90's.
I've heard better caterwauling.
Counting Crows.  Probably the only time I wish RP played more Bob Dylan.

The scale should include 11 - "Better than Beatles" (although Beethoven scores higher)
And it should include 0 - "Crappier than Counting Crows"
I get the mental picture of a gamekeeper's fence with the dead crows hanging from it. Caw...

Horribly whiny. Please make it stop.
The sound of my heartbreak, to this day.

Pathetic.
Alexa, stop. Please.
I really tried to like County Crows but it's not working for me.  Same with John Mellencamp.  Something about them that doesn't do it for me.
Sorry.. I really love this track and all the Crows

Totally awesome.  Maybe it's the time, or even the girl?  Time and time again.  As for the Crows...used to be my favorite band.  Something happened after Hard Candy.  They got lazy or uninspired or something.  Out of favor now, but this album is a great one.

Please, we don't need to hear about your gonads.
Adam Duritz does indeed have a polarising voice... very nasal and with a distinct whine. I see why people really hate it, but I have an odd early 90s soft spot for Counting Crows, and kind of enjoy how overblown his vocal style is!
Radio Paradise is super awesome!
And Counting Crows is super lame.
So what we got here is oil and water.

I really like them, but at the same time I can totally understand how you feel.  His voice has a very distinct sound that you either love or hate.
Gross.
The whiniest shit I’ve heard in a long time.
Another interesting example of what I call the music herd review.  This album was generally praised when it was released.  Praise I agree with, BTW.  Since then, the album has become continually worse, because the herd has decided (some years ago) that the band (and/or frontman suck)
seriously...please stop with this band. Blecccchhhh.
I just can't get beyond his whiney voice.

Haven't listened to this album for a decade or more and this isn't one of the tracks that I've heard in that time. I don't mind this one bit. Great track from a time when people were, perhaps, overly earnest, but in a way that it's possible to feel nostalgia for... occasionally.

Can we have the instrumental please? This singer is an ear assault.
This guy has to use some other singing styles just too much the same sound

The 1st cousin to the Dave Matthews Band, both of which seem to enjoy expressing Chaos Theory via musical expression.  I do not share their enthusiasm in doing so.

It's like putting a cheese grater to my ears everytime I hear this horrible song. Why is this group popular? There may be a cool song with great lyrics underneath all that catter-walling, but I'll never know 'cause I just can't stand that guy's voice. Ugh!

Ha ha.  You said it much better than I ever could have.  Thanks for making me laugh through my misery.

ARRRGGGGHHHH!!! Will someone please stop swinging that cat around by it's tail. This man has the WORST voice in the history of music.... he's so.... AAARRRGGG!!!
Really like almost everything on this album. Would love to hear Perfect Blue Buildings.

Wake me when it\'s over!!
Every song on this album is excellent and most of their other music is too. However, I have to agree that Adam whines a little bit too much on this song but that\'s just his style, like or not. There are some great versions of these songs on the VH1 Storytellers CD.
This guy just always sounds completely exasperated. The tunes aren\'t bad - he\'s just only got one way to sing \'em.
All good - love the Crows
