It's getting near dawn
When lights close their tired eyes
I'll soon be with you, my love
Give you my dawn surprise
I'll be with you, darling, soon
I'll be with you when the stars start falling
I've been waiting so long
To be where I'm going
In the sunshine of your love
I'm with you, my love
The light's shinin' through on you
Yes, I'm with you, my love
It's the morning and just we two
I'll stay with you, darling, now
I'll stay with you 'til my seas are all dried up
I've been waiting so long
To be where I'm going
In the sunshine of your love
I'm with you, my love
The light's shinin' through on you
Yes, I'm with you, my love

C(l)aptain, my captain!
Always loved this album cover!
Just to add to the comments about Ginger Baker, I saw his band Ginger Baker's Jazz Confusion (with Alec Dankworth (bass), Pee Wee Ellis (sax), Abass Dodoo percussion) a couple of times, not very long before he died; the rhythms he produced with Abass were phenomenal. He never lost it - probably the best drummer I've ever seen live - and that includes with Blues Incorporated, the Graham Bond Organisation and Cream.
GREAT! I bought this album in 1968. I was 13yrs old. I played it so much, that I wore it out & I had to buy a new record!

Was there ever an assemblage of three high school dudes in a garage who did NOT jam on this?

Only 18 Comments??!!
This really blew us all away back in the day, and can still astound. The growling bass, the blazing guitar, the explosive drums -- all infused with that unmistakably psychedelic aura they emanated and modulated so well... I love how their sound influenced so many, from Deep Purple and Black Sabbath to Tame Impala and The Black Keys!

He IS GREAT! There are some other great rock drummers, but, NOT a very long list!
Cream was a fantastic band driven by Ginger Baker's drumming. No other drummer could match his excellence.

This was my first song that opened my ears for other, harder stuff than Rod Stewart (in Eric Clapton's version on "24 Nights")
Love it every time...

This song is a fabulaous eric clapton classic, and no less impressive with cream.
