Here come Johnny singing oldies, goldies
Be-Bop-A-Lula, Baby What I Say
Here come Johnny singing I Gotta Woman
Down in the tunnel trying to make it pay
He got the action, he got the motion
Oh yeah the boy can play
A dedication, devotion
Turning all the night time into the day

He do the song about the sweet lovin' woman
He do the song about the knife
And he do the walk, he do the walk of life
Yeah, he do the walk of life

Here comes Johnny gonna tell you the story
Hand me down my walkin' shoes
Here come Johnny with the power and the glory
Backbeat the talkin' blues
He got the action, he got the motion
Oh yeah the boy can play
A dedication, devotion
Turning all the night time into the day

He do the song about the sweet lovin' woman
He do the song about the knife
Then he do the walk, he do the walk of life
Yeah, he do the walk of life

Here come Johnny singing oldies, goldies
Be-Bop-A-Lula, Baby What I Say
Here come Johnny singing I Gotta Woman
Down in the tunnel, trying to make it pay
He got the action, he got the motion
Oh yeah the boy can play
A dedication, devotion
Turning all the night time into the day

And after all the violence and double talk
There's just a song in all the trouble and the strife
You do the walk, yeah, you do the walk of life
Mmm, you do the walk of life

Now that this song is in a commercial, we'll never hear it here.

I love Dire Straits but this song just reminds me of a baseball blooper reel.

Isn't it more likely that's because the video for this song is one long baseball and American football blooper reel?

none? NONE? I guess you were just searching for the right banana.

Man. If I wasn't in a stuffy office full of accountants at this moment, I'd be kicking off my shoes and dancing around in the kitchen with the broom right about now.

Ya mean ya don't usually? And ya forgettin' the beer an a bourbon!
Sure, sure, this gets lots of play all the time, but it takes me back to the carefree days of my childhood... it was one of my first favorite songs along with "La Bamba" and Bob Seeger's "Kathmandu" (yes, my folks lived in Ann Arbor in the early 70's)
This song, like so many others, suffers from overplay. It's actually a pretty good song with one hell of a keyboard riff. C'mon, who can't dig that riff?
Bill please play *any* other song from this album...

had this song on a disk for my AMIGA 500 !!! :shifty:
This one would likely be getting better reviews here if not for a heavy dose of FM fatigue. Yes, there's better songs on the album, but this is still in the 7-8 range. The album as a whole, while perhaps not their best, is a solid 9.

Dreadful garbage, and I say that as big admirer of most everything else they did.
