Remember when Elvis sightings were all the rage?  "-- I saw Elvis Presley walk out of the Seven Eleven..." For better or worse, they've kinda faded out...but this song still sizzles on all levels! DS at Red Rocks 9-85 was JAM!

Yes, agreed - a great album.  I saw Dire Straits on the On Every Street tour, and it was fabulous. However, while this song brings back great 1991 memories, I don't think it's one of their best...almost a throwaway.  Now, give me "Planet Of New Orleans" from that album any day of the week...that's a SONG!

Mark Knophler seems to be enjoying the relative obscurity of his current folk/blues/whimsy interests. After their mainstream blockbusting success of brothers in arms I was less interested in Dire Sraits - for me this album was a surprising change of direction, and had a simplicity and transparency which reminded me of their earlier albums. Liked the sideways looks at Americana of 'My Party' and love 'Planet of New Orleans' with superb guitar solo from Michael Landau. Good stuff.

The man gets it done with his casual vocal style and unbelievable guitar work. Aahh... Calling Elvis a rare gem in the Dire Straits treasury. I have fond memories of the On Every Street Album -- it was the first time I was exposed to Dire Straits. Truly great music. I was very upset when he cancelled his tour last year. Hopefully we'll hear something from Mr. Knopfler soon again. Cheers Peter

Caught DS on tour back in... '92! Great show... I remember the music critic in the newspaper (who seemed to hate music) complaining that the band just stood there and played. As far as concerts go, I'll take good music over crud-pop's choreographed dance numbers any day, thankyouverymuch.
