I stole my daddy's car when I was 16
My cassette mixtape was playing Golden Earring
Picked up Jack and crossed the state line into Tennessee
We left North Carolina, two young outlaws
Jack handed me a pack of shields and I said, "La ti da"
I drove that Chevy Vega like it was a Pontiac Grand Prix

Jack knew a girl who lived east of Knoxville
Said she had a friend with looks that could kill
And wasn't particular about who she got it on with
Just after midnight we pulled into this driveway
Two girls got in the car smelling like Fabergé
Jack said "this is Ruby and this is her friend Gwyneth"

We parked behind a closed dairy queen
Gwyneth had the bluest eyes I'd ever seen
She smiled and whispered "I gonna ignite your pilot light"
Jack and Ruby walked off into the dark
Gwyneth said "I'm burning like Joan of Arc"
The mixtape played Neil Young's Tonight's the Night

I shut off the engine, took my foot off the clutch
Gwyneth's skin was electric to the touch
She kissed me and said "Let's get in the back seat"
I felt a fire burning in my bones
Mixtape played Brown Sugar by the Stones
The old car rocked with Charlie Watts back beat

Then it was fireworks on the 4th of July
She breathed in my ear and said, "Banzai
Just lock it in the pocket, fall into the grooves"
The night was burning like fuses overloaded
Meteors fell and volcanoes exploded
Cassette mixtape played Bob Seger's Night Moves

Gwyneth lit a Marlboro and I buttoned my shirt
She smoothed the wrinkles on her Versace skirt
I smiled as the smoke rose to the heavens above
We dropped the girls off just before sunrise
Gwyneth gave me a long French kiss goodbye
Jack and I drove home listening to Radar Love
