I had this at an 8... bumped to 9. One has to realize that there are at least three guitars going on here, all doing something different, some of the musicians are strung out on heroin and booze... but the energy is palpable and the "mess" sounds magnificent.

In 1976 I used to gaze out at the Charles River and Storrow Drive, Boston blasting this (whole album) in my ear phones at 2 a.m. Often amped by decent smokeables (of course way before the GMO varieties) and 90 proof liquid fire. Memories and such being what they are, this may be in my top 20 all time pieces of music.

How can anyone feel anything but happy hearing this song? I disagree with the comment below, I agree with the others that this was definitely Clapton at his peak. Yeah, he's done some great stuff since then but nothing as consistently good as this record. Come on, how do you beat the pairing of he and Duane Allman? Nope, yain't gonna convince me otherwise.

I'm going against the tide here. I thought this track was kind of formulaic. The "ree-dee ree-dee ree-dee" guitar solos are just so hackneyed.
I do agree that this was a peak for Clapton though - just not this specific tune.
The second CD I ever bought, just after Electric Lady Land. Love Duane Allman on guitar.
