Being a surfer, the cover compelled me to search...

As I expected, "Makua" is Makua Rothman, who apparently wrote the song...   He's part of a well-known family in Hawaii.  I find the song to be catchy.

It was written as a tribute to all the surfers who met their unfortunate end while surfing.    I'm not sure if I agree with the sentiment"
"Catch a wave to heaven my darling
Perfect way to solve all our problems"

almost sounds like it is advocating that you can solve all your problems by unbirthing yourself surfing.    That just makes more problems for all your family and friends you left behind.   And I highly doubt any of these surfers intended to die going for that last wave.

I find that surfing puts me in a great mental state, and solves lots of problems just that way.
