Gary Louris of The Jayhawks was (and still is) the guitar player of Golden Smog. When I called Vin to set-up this recording he told me that Emmylou Harris might stop by, but that Rosanne Cash was definitely coming. I told him that "Seven Year Ache" was Gary's favorite song ever, his legit #1. He asked if I thought Gary would sing it with Rosanne. I said "if he don't shit himself!" So I called Gary to see if he would do it, took about a half hour to convince him I wasn't making it up. he LOVES Rosanne. But not completely believing me said yes. I called Vin, he called Rosanne and then me to say it was a go. So much more to the story but Gary and Rosanne met for the first time at the station, she asked what key. They sang a verse. Gary was blushing through the entire thing. 10 minutes later they did it live on the air. This is the only recording. I simply had to include it on this promo only disc we did for radio.
