The ground shakes
The sky falls down
We see the Earth break
And question how she's kept us all safe
The rattlesnake still bathes in the sun
Watch how the flood takes the scree from the path
See how the dead plants give in to the wrath
Make room for rebirth
Sweep away the past in the rain
I did the hard thing, I blocked out the sun
I left my hometown, and made a new one
I killed my heroes
I left it all to rot into the flood
I heard the boulders crumble the walls
I saw the cypress standing there tall
The speed would pick up
Ricochet, a pinball roll of death
Someday I'll be here, picking up the mess
I'll bring my children, put 'em to the test
Just like my parents
Passing down their dreams and pain my way
Someday I'll leave here
Swept into the wash
I'll leave the world here, but the meaning will be lost
I'll make the ground shake
Bring the rocks down, make the canyon fall
The sky falls down
We see the Earth break
And question how she's kept us all safe
The rattlesnake still bathes in the sun

Yes they could have done better with the band name Bill I agree...their from Seattle for goodness sake...coal miners, cmon! the music is pretty good however...but cmon!
Very Doobie Brothers guitar and arrangement. In my ears anyway.
PNW gem.
Love the tasty guitar work at the end to finish another song of theirs with an introspective message.
