Once upon a time you dressed so fine
You threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn't you?
People'd call, say, "Beware doll, you're bound to fall"
You thought they were all kiddin' you
You used to laugh about
Everybody that was hangin' out
Now you don't talk so loud
Now you don't seem so proud
About having to be scrounging for your next meal

How does it feel?
How does it feel
To be without a home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

You've gone to the finest school all right, Miss Lonely
But you know you only used to get juiced in it
And nobody's ever taught you how to live out on the street
And now you're gonna have to get used to it
You said you'd never compromise
With the mystery tramp, but now you realize
He's not selling any alibis
As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes
And say do you want to make a deal?

How does it feel?
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
A complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

You never turned around to see the frowns on the jugglers and the clowns
When they all did tricks for you
You never understood that it ain't no good
You shouldn't let other people get your kicks for you
You used to ride on the chrome horse with your diplomat
Who carried on his shoulder a Siamese cat
Ain't it hard when you discover that
He really wasn't where it's at
After he took from you everything he could steal

How does it feel?
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

Princess on the steeple and all the pretty people
They're all drinkin', thinkin' that they got it made
Exchanging all precious gifts
But you'd better take your diamond ring, you'd better pawn it babe
You used to be so amused
At Napoleon in rags and the language that he used
Go to him now, he calls you, you can't refuse
When you ain't got nothing, you got nothing to lose
You're invisible now, you got no secrets to conceal

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

Nope... and I don't usually nope much but this is pretty nopey. I just don't feel the craft or soul in the performance. But what do I know... your call, Alanna.
Oy! Didn't think that anyone could sing this song worse than Bob Dylan does, but there you go, anything is possible.
first thought was “courageous”
It takes guts to measure yourself against a timeless classic by a poet and rock icon, Nobel laureate in his spare time. You may love or hate this rendition but it does have personality to me, and a lot
Sounds like Mr. Rogers or Sesame Street turned a legendary rock song into a lullaby.     Sorry Alana -- it's just not worthy....
2->3.  I must be in charitable mood
you're not kidding...

It really does just keep getting more painful as it goes on. Makes for the longest sounding Dylan song. I'd like it to be burried in a toxic waste dump far, far away from me.
can we pick up the pace a bit?
Garbage.
I like Phosphorescent.  And this song is a masterpiece.  But this version does not work for me at all.  Not sure why, but I prefer his other stuff much more.
Not bad.  Not bad.
Looove the keyboard tone. But that's all. Pick up the pace man, song is long enough already. We'll be here all day. And, next.
why?
A definite meh...
lame
SOOOO much better than the original - strange voice and all!! (If kinda monotonous...)
As they say on the talent shows - I'm sorry, it's a "no" from me.
What the hell is this?

RP should have a new channel called Bad Mellow Mix - And only play this song.

You should give him a try. I really love his other work, despite this awful cover.
Is this from an SNL skit?  it only gets worse the longer you listen to it. 😛
Cover after cover and this one sucks.  Please. Originals unless something exceptional!!
This is an interesting cover. I'll give at 7!

Sounds like Adam Sandler
Uninspired piano + weedy voice = 1.

Ain't this something?

Difficult to figure  just what that is.
Listening and waiting for it to pick up; for the bass to kick in, and for the anger level to ramp...
...
We all know how many verses there are.
OK, moving along - skip.
Stripped down rendition.  Electric keyboard and solo vocals.
Not sure what I make of this version yet.

Going with a 5 rating to start.
I'm liking this slowed down and anguish filled cover, call it a 7 with room; LLRP
