Change, like the wind, like the water, like skin
Change, like the sky, like the leaves, like a butterfly

Would you live forever and never die
While everything around passes?
Would you smile forever and never cry
While everything you know passes?

Death, like a door to a place we've never been before
Death, like space, the deep sea, a suitcase

Would you stare forever at the sun
Never watch the moon rising?
Would you walk forever in the light
To never learn the secret of the quiet night?

Still, like a stone, like a hill, like home
Still, what I find, is you were always on my mind

Could I feel happy for you
When I hear you talk with her like we used to?
Could I set everything free
When I watch you holding her the way you once held me?

Change, like the sky, like the leaves, like a butterfly
Death, like a door to a place we've never been before

Would you live forever and never die
While everything around passes?
Would you smile forever and never cry?

Same here. And I'm on a 9 already ...
This is not Emmy Lou?
I love it, can hear it over and over.  Should be a 7.x
love this band. such great poetry. her voice is perfect for this.

i wonder if dylan likes this band.
That voice . No. The lyrics are excellent.

Dunno how anyone can give a 1 score for any of this band's songs, unless they have a vendetta?

No vendetta - this song moves me, just not in a positive way. That's part of the beauty of music - it's totally subjective. Some songs make me want to dance in my chair every time...others (like this one) for whatever reason, make me want to run out of the room screaming

I don't mean offense to those that do like it - to each their own!

But  Big Thief and Jens Lekman will ALWAYS be the musical equivalent of fingernails on a chalkboard to this RP fan!!!
Big siiiiiiiiigh after that one. Simple elegance.
William, change suits you and RP
Grabbed me from the first listen, like a true god would do. Not sure why I had this at 9 before.
Beautiful...
Not for broken hearted, man, not for them, a crying 9.
Sounds like it could have been a June Carter or Johnny Cash song
7 to 8 lovely
where the eff did that acoustic guitar come from?

GOD?

Gen X (me) can finally chill......

Modern Music Is Wonderful (alt j)
I shouldn’t like it but I do
Nothing like those happy little Ditties.
Interesting: mountain music from the heart of the biggest urban environment in the USA. Having spent a decade living in Brooklyn I saw a lot of "country people" in the hip neighborhoods in the borough, so this isn't a big surprise. Seems to be a 21st century version of the urban cowboy phenomenon from the '70s.

Nice tune though. Singer can bring it, furshur.
Kinda grows on ya.

(why don't hyperlinks resolve these days?)
Big Emmylou!
A little too slow for me, but I like it nonetheless.
Saw Big Thief do this in DC a few months back; just outstanding. Have it on recycled colored vinyl; the whole album is a gem.
Sad songs can hit your soul, but they bring up your regrets and longings.

The lyrics on this track, while simple on their surface, certainly are deep and really ask some questions that require some reflection...love that...

Thanks for that. It made me stop and read them properly as the song was playing, and you couldn't be more right!

What yummy vocals! I get.....moist!
Lovin' this more with each hearing! Brilliant lyrics and Gorgeous voice and vibes! Boosted 7 -> 8 !
What a lovely voice. She reminds me of Emmylou Harris.
Love it!
Dirge
Not to my taste.  The song has no momentum (the drums are particularly draggy) and her voice is giving me the ab-dabs.  Sorry, it's a 1 from me.

My poor ears...

to each their own - this one doesn't do it for me. Vocal style feels affected, and the whole theme of "change" just feels a little overwrought to me. It tries to be really deep, which only makes it worse. >PSD

Still love RP!
She has a primo voice!
Wow.

Kid No. 2 approves.

Totally thought this was Emmylou.
