I can't get no satisfaction
I can't get me no satisfaction
And I try and I try and I try t-t-t-t-try try
I can't no, I can't get me no

When I'm riding in my car
And a man comes on the radio
He's tellin' me more and more
About some useless information
Supposed to fire my imagination

I can't get no
No-no, no
Hey, hey, hey
That's what I say

I can't get no satisfaction
I can't get me no girl reaction
And I try and I try and I try t-t-t-t-try try
I can't no, I can't get me no

When I'm watchin' my TV
And a man comes on to tell me
How white my shirts could me
But he can't be a man 'cause he does not smoke
The same cigarettes as me

I can't get no
No-no, no
Hey, hey, hey
That's what I say

And when I'm flying 'round the world
And I'm doin' this and I'm tryin' do that
And I'm trying to make some girl
Who tells me babybabybabybabybabybabybabybabybabybaby....
Better come back later next week
Can't you see I'm on a losing streak

I can't get no
No-no, no
Hey, hey, hey
That's what I say

I can't get no (satisfaction)
I can't get me no (satisfaction)

Well then just quit listening to music entirely.

You need to be old minded - 1978 old.

Yikes. Trying to be open-minded but...
My older brother was a Devo fan so I grew up listening to this song and it wasn't until years later when I discovered this was a cover. I'm still partial to this version.

this is how to cover a classic  rnr  somg
Devo-lution. Indeed.
I absolutely hated Devo when they came out and first appeared on Saturday Night Live in their yellow plastic suits, I thought they were just a gimmick. Then I went to see them live. I was way deeply rooted into classic rock at the time and they opened my mind to experiencing new music! They are a very talented band and launched me into a new journey, thank you Devo!
Nope.
Such fun. This takes me back.
Best cover ever!! Thass right
I prefer this to the original.
This is a cover that generally blows the mind of the "purists".
Just remember that Jagger loved and approved it!!!
Their plastic suits were better than their music..{#Drool}
I didn't know a whole lot about Devo, but got asked to go last minute on a November evening, at Cleveland Music Hall, and it remains one of the very best shows I've ever seen.  Their energy was incredible...

It'll be 40 YEARS ago in Nov. that I saw this show at The Walker Art Center in Mpls.  They were truly amazing at the very beginning in the late 70's when crap like Styx and REO and April Wine ruled the airwaves.  Nobody in mainstream rock knew what to make of them.  Their loss.

Anyway, I remember (vaguely) we were all sitting front & center 10 feet from the band, and the boys ripped off their yellow industrial suits during Jocko Homo and threw them right at us.  My buddy wore his "Devo pants" to a frat party later that night and almost got beat up just for looking "weird".

YAY! I've been waiting to hear this here for so long. I only have the vinyl and no way to digitize to upload....
Thank you whoever uploaded this.

The situation described by the lyrics always seemed more likely coming from these guys than Mick Jagger.
Baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby

OMG.

A swing and a miss for Devo. I can't, not even back in the day.

Apology accepted. I've read some of your other comments. You've been on RP for much longer than I, and I considered your comments both knowledgeable and helpful. I believe you when you say that you are neither a hypocrite or a troll, but you certainly stooped to that level at that particular moment.

Hey, wait a cotton pickin' minute! I'M the hypocrite troll here, NOBODY ELSE.

“When I walk out in front of a car later today, not paying attention to traffic, and get squashed like a bug, and I’m watching all the good moments of my life zip by, I know that one will appear a couple of times.”

Such a pleasant surprise to hear some old school Devo today!  Only on Radio Paradise!

De-evolution indeed  10  : )
awesome.
I want to pull out my puke designed LP and listen now.
Great New Wave interpretation of this anthem.
Devo we're such a Gen X icon and New Wave pioneers in a sea of rock dinosaurs and disco at the time.
They were and truly Avant guard, original and somewhat mainstream (quite a feat).
They make today's pop music lame and insipid by comparison.
I loved the guinness of this very entertaining group. By 1978 I had been Satisfaction-ed to death (Except Otis Redding's awesome cover) by the Stone's song. When I saw DEVO's video of the song I was sold, there was still more "satisfaction" to be had. These guys were so much fun I still wear a flower pot to work every now then.
a 9er for me.

Gee, it sounds so weird, as if a bug got into my ear and distorted my inner balance  {#Beat}

There was a great story in the New Yorker recently about the origin of this song. Busy now. I will look it up and post the link later.

I apologize to you and your city, folkrocker; it was a thoughtless and snide to make such a wisecrack.  But "hypocrite troll"?  That's a little harsh, and I am neither.

Any news on that link?
I bought it too.  I think it was on some strange colored vinyl too.

Even Keith could not get high enough to enjoy this.

Yeesh. They appear to have drained out most of what made the original so great. A rare miss by Devo, to my ears.

Where's Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesche?
need more DEVO
When this came out a radio station in Tulsa literally broke the record on the air after asking listeners.
New Yorker just did a great piece on this musical oddity:

One afternoon in 1978, Mark Mothersbaugh and Gerald Casale—the two prime architects of the band Devo—were fidgeting in Peter Rudge’s office, near the Warwick Hotel, in Manhattan, with Mick Jagger. Rudge was the Rolling Stones’ manager, and Devo had recorded an odd cover of the band’s hit “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction”—so odd that their label said they needed Jagger’s blessing to release it.
Ha, I remember when my sister at Kent State said she knew these guys that just released a new album. I said, "Cool, what are they like?" She said they do a cover of the Stones song Satisfaction. I then imagined all kind of things about what they would sound like. Then I finally  heard the song on the radio... I never imagined this! Fun stuff still.
Where's my flower pot?
