All these years listening here, I don't think I've heard this group before and I like this song enough to go look this group up. Thanks once again, for a 'discovery'.
I'm 72, live 20 miles from Yeovil, and this is the first I've heard of Pineapple Thief.... I'm instantly in love with them, which means 13 more albums to buy! This is why I love R.P. 👌

OK but is that like a baritone clarinet...if that even exists? Very deep notes.

No, it's just a normal Bb clarinet.
This is Perfect!

I don't think this is Cheddar Gorge either!

Yay! Cheddar Gorge!

ps I keep picking bits of "Lucky Man" out of this lovely track.
Last concert I saw before COVID in Cambridge Mass. Very intimate show, seating and standing by the stage. Knew every song, every lyric, what an outstanding performance! Good to see Gavin Harrison again since the PT days. He is by far one of the best drummers in the world right now. Neal Peart thought so!

Trying to deduce the location of the photo. Western U.S.? South Africa? Going to band's album web site. No clue just yet.

likable music  : )

It's a view of El Capitan in the Guadalupe Mountain National Park from along U.S. 62 in western Texas. Really beautiful place.

I played a bass clarinet in school. It exists!

The tie between PT and TPT would be Gavin Harrison I guess. Great drummer imho.

In your opinion (I interpreted the cryptic code as such) he's a great drummer? Leave your opinion out of this. He is a great drummer, dancing to an internal rhythm, best I can tell.
Had me up until the clarinet... Then I think I must have melted

Gavin! Everyone needing drums must hire this gun!

Agreed, friend.

I'm pretty sure the cover shot wasn't taken anywhere near Yeovil ...
Saw them live twice - outstanding !

I thought this sounded like a Porcupine Tree that I hadn't heard before, so clicked open Radio Paradise and read the name as Porcupine Thief. Then as I read the comments I saw it was 'Pineapple' and noted others saw the similarity. As it went on though it did take on a distinct sound, which I like.

If I were a thief, I'd FOR SURE steal Pineapples way before trying to steal a porcupine :-)

Awesome song.
Thought this was Sufjan Stevens, no not but still remarkably similar sound
nice
I adore a thoughtful, well crafted melody that returns again and again to take you home.
 Pineapple tree

WHO STOLE MY PINEAPPLES?!

Great tune!
Saw him jam on Letterman during "Drummers' Week," and, of course, HE ROCKED IT BIG-TIME! I like this song and I love RP best...
A little Harmonium (Quebec prog rock band from the 1970s), a little Camel, a little Focus, a little Porcupine Tree (perhaps):  sounds nice.

More than a similarity, I guess: Gavin Harrison has played drums with both bands.  I believe he plays drums on this album.

Thank you for that.
Camouflage not. But for the vocalist, one would not guess. Hardly Halo or Dark Matter.

Been seeing a lot of these 'newer' prog rock bands with my dad ever since I got him hooked on Porcupine Tree almost ten years ago now. The Pineapple Thief is definitely one of our favorites, we go and see them together every time they're around and we've seen the crowd grow every single time as well. Great little band, love them!

Did I read somewhere that Gavin Harrison is behind the drum kit on this album?

Yes, and John Helliwell (Supertramp and on Momentary Lapse of Reason) on clarinet.
Good stuff! 8 from me this sunny  (finally) PNW morning

That would make a lot of sense... sounds kinda like PT to me.

Nice! Yet another band I probably wouldn't have known about without RP.
