i walk the dark star, the lost sky
searching for your signal, receive mine
i called you cold and our tears became laughter
happy ever after

out of our secrets, we built a home
confide and fortify, blood, bone
a love like i was comes 'round once in a lifetime
sending you a lifeline

the bitter burden of a signal run cold
you became the dark star and left me all alone
a love like i was comes 'round once in a lifetime
sending you a lifeline

the bitter burden of a signal run cold
you became the dark star and left me all alone
a love like i was comes 'round once in a lifetime
sending you a lifeline

and when we said the words 'i love you'
i said them 'cause they are true
why would you say those words to me
if you could not follow through?
go wash your mouth out, child

i walk the dark star, the lost sky
searching for your signal, receive mine
i called you cold and our tears became laughter
happy ever after

out of our secrets, we built a home
confide and fortify, blood, bone

Are you saying that you think this is like Tori Amos?  I can't hear that myself.
Love it.  Beautiful and creepy (although I have just watched the video!)
Apologies in advance:

6 => 3 => PSD
the rounds in this song, phrasing and melody are outstanding
Like the song.  Like the video.

Like the arrangement.  Like the performance.
Perfect Song!

Where did Tori Amos say she hates imitation?
one of my fave songs I have discovered from RP. Starting at an 8. A deffo earworm for me

I do find the contrast interesting how an artist can be pouring out their deepest emotions, meanwhile we're busy with sawing a board or vacuuming.
This is an excellent song.
we need more trippy stuff like this
I had to drop everything to see who was singing
The video of her live performance of this song is brilliant.
Well now, here's a song that highlights the benefits of good audio equipment.  I've gone 6 to 8 to 7 on this one, the down-rate due to a messy sounding low-end section, which I've now solved with a new cell phone and the same Bose over-ear phones....so I'm back to an 8 on this one!!

Having listened with this phone for a few days now, and noticing how much better the good sounding tracks can be, it took a not-so-great sounding track to really make me glad I went for audio quality first in my phone's features.  LLRP!!

I don't especially like this song, but did you ever think that she probably is doing that phrasing, breathing, and lyric flow on purpose?  Perhaps she was trying to convey more of the feeling and "sense" of the song and lyrics by using such frenetic phrasing and breathing.  If I only wanted to hear "trained singers" I'd watch shows like American Idol or go listen to church choirs - I don't do either.

Hear Hear!  Agree 100%.  It's art, so do what you want.
If I have to do only what you like, that's not art.
And I love this song, BTW.  Solid 8.  9 on a good day.
Chills -love it!

After long experience, I truly believe that folk in relationships should never say "I love you". Even if it's true at first (whatever 'love' is) it very quickly becomes a pointless ritual, and carries so much baggage it could be used as an airport carousel.

I have to disagree. Saying and hearing it aren't the problem, it's all the extra meaning that gets piled on top.  It's up to us as adults to realize that things are always changing, and to not build it up to some eternal flame that's the only thing you can ever count on in this messed up world. Just be careful about promising forever...

Love is beautiful, share it freely!

... Interesting ... phrasing.
Untrained singer with no idea as to where or how to breathe silently without breaking the flow and sense of the lyrics - alas this is now de rigueur! I was taught that 55 years ago in a church choir.

Would have rated it higher but for the repetitive lyrics...
the lyrics in the app need correcting - love like ours not "love like i was"

Agreed.

Wonderful.
The video of this on you tube is weird — really weird,
truly disgusting
I seem to have heard this more than 6 times on RP  during the last 30 days...
New music.  Cool!
I found this song very annoying

She was happy after recording this...

You could say she was cock-a-hoop

Lyrics paint a sad picture.
She sounds so much like Sarah Slean that I keep double checking the credits.
I kept waiting for it to kick in and take off, but it never did. It just kept going til it didn't.

Agreed! Although for me it's a 6->8, for now at least.  The kudos to BillG are the same.

I became a big fan immediately.

After she was done she went out and worked her merchandise table by herself.

That's where I know her from...the Eels show...thanks for reminding me as I couldn't quite put my finger on it!
What happened to her eye?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Slightly reminds me of "Listening Wind" by Peter Gabriel. 8
8 to 9. Worth many listens.

Sounds great.
Wow...
Nicely crafted song, I like it.
This is why I listen to and support RP. Glad to hear this artist for the first time just now! Interesting harmony and phrasing. Fresh and unconventional.
Really don't understand the lackluster response to this song.
Nice... I like it :-)
