I feel a change in the weather
I feel a change in me
The days are getting shorter
And the birds begin to leave

Even me, yes, yes, y'all
Who has been so long alone
I'm headed home
Headed home

The nights are getting colder now
And the air is getting crisp
Our first taste of the universe
On a night like this

A box of wine, an alibi, and the hunger in her eyes
And the place where the tree of good and evil still resides
Still resides

Homecoming
Homecoming, Homecoming

She said show me what you got babe
I'm not like other girls
Just give me your bad self and a place for us to make a stand
And I can move the world

Lift a valley from a floor, honey
A little tongue to the sky
You'll say that it's a miracle
And know damn well they're right
Damn well they're right

Homecoming
Homecoming, Homecoming
Homecoming
Homecoming, Homecoming

The miracle spoke to me
She was like a roadside song
Do unto others as you would have them do
Even if in turn they do you wrong

This town right here's my everything
And though I've been torn away
It has my heart, it has my heart
Be still my heart, my heart be still
My heart be still, my heart be still, my heart be still

Get just a little bit high
Get a little tongue-tied
Gonna try to find whatever in the meantime
That kind of immemorial
That time before the fall
That time before the autumn really turned the corner
Drive east of eden till we start the feel the west
We were never far from nowhere
You could see it from the edge of town
Honey baby, wonder how it feels now
Somehow I can't believe that it could feel like before, but

The airs getting colder now
The nights are getting crisp
I first tasted the universe
On a night like this

An alibi, a box of wine, and the hunger in your eyes
In the place where the tree of good and evil still resides

Homecoming
Homecoming, Homecoming
Homecoming
Homecoming, Homecoming
Homecoming
Homecoming, Homecoming
Homecoming
Homecoming, Homecoming
Homecoming
Homecoming, Homecoming

.. but enough about your comment, the song is great
dire, absolutely shit.
terrible lyrics and deepressing
There is nothing wrong with the song at all given all the truff out in the musical wilderness.
Just cheered me up a little :)
Waterboys-lite.
In sentiment and feeling, clearly owing everything to Bob Seger's Night Moves.

Seger could write crap like this too, and spent  15 years post-Night Moves proving it, but at least he gave us that one good song first.

The B verse here would  be enough to have Josh shot, if the authorities prosecuted people for pure kitsch.
First heard this on the TV series "Billions" and just had to find out who it was!
I was just kinda listening along to this in the background, when a little circuit in the back of my brain said "Little Bible College in Missouri!"

It is nice to here more music from Josh Ritter here on RP. There may be quite a bit more out there to be honest, but has gone otherwise undetected by the little circuit in the back of my brain.
Let's bang under the bleachers right now!
My first hearing of this, and the craftsmanship of the track leaves me only with a pure (and 1st time for me) 10/10 top class John and crew 🏝🎶
Quite the lyricist, this Josh Ritter.

Or, just a pop song, which is a great opportunity to lighten up!

Weird!

All I'm hearing him saying is "Paul McCartney, Paul McCartney"

I'm working too much!

One the best concerts in the last several years for me, love Josh
Hi Class
Gooey, sappy, pop drivel.
Quite the poet.
Second!
First Place!
