I'm still a freak, I never went straight
I kept my appointment with fate
And like every human being that was ever born
I'm unique
Things disappear, but I'm still here
I'm still a freak
I'm still a head and I'm doing fine
I can hear your voice in my mind
You ain't singing my praises now honey
do it when I'm dead
I'm not bitter but I'm no quitter
I'm still a head
I'm still awake, I knew all along
If you ain't crazy there's something wrong
and there's no such thing as a coincidence
or a mistake
And all this confusion is all just illusion
I'm still awake
I'm still a freak, I ain't been gagged
I'm still flying the flag
The game's movin' so fast, who knows where it's gonna
be this time next week!
Empires rise and fall, but through it all
I'm still a freak!

As a Scotsman, I have to say I hear no trace of a Scottish accent.

Nothing wrong with the word "Blech" in german language, that is sheet metal. Could be gold, silver, copper, stainless or rusty steel. Though this is by far not the best song on the album, it is still plated.
Blues Hammer!!!
blechhhh

Well thanks for stating that....gave me a chance to learn some Judaism:
blech (plural blechs) (Judaism) A metal sheet used to cover stovetop burners on Shabbat to allow food to be kept warm without violating the prohibition against cooking
You'll find this song listed under Webster's definition of the word "blech."

overlapping out of sync drums on that mix out of the Kinks was a bit of a mess...
Love the Waterboys!!!

I hear Tom Petty. And that's not a good thing.

Huh, these guys are still around. I didn't know. I am out of touch with them. This seems to be a new sound for them

I'm a gonna bump it to an 8. Beer swilling party loud proud dance music. OK by me. In a few listens, I might bump it down. It's allowed.

I do love that wild character on the album cover; gives "— jamming good, with Weird and Ghillie!" a whole new meaning & life for me!
Love The Waterboys but I'm not sure I would have even guessed this was them. Instant 9. It reminded me somewhat of that mid-80's Canadian band The Pursuit of Happiness.

The skronky guitar solo dropped it down a notch. Mike Scott needs someone around to tell him no, I think. Or maybe someone told him he should add a blistering solo. dunno. I do want to hear the rest of the album before I condemn it fully. I'll give this one a 5, but it's veering toward worst-rating-on-RP territory...
I bought the CD being a WB fan back to Pagan Place. It's a little uneven a bit reminiscent of Pagan Place but more bluesy and RnR. I find this one interesting due to the lyric content and found it amusing he would do this. Never thought of him as a "Freak". I could do without the "I See Elvis" song. Girl Who Slept for Scotland is good but I don't understand the lyrics, and a few others are good.

Perhaps I am too kind.

Well said both of U re: boogie blues and yet still giving the Wboys a chance. Mike Scott has such a great muse and I am glad they are at least still in the game. Further investigation needed.

Watched them on the BBC Glastonbury 2015 coverage. Good old-fashioned, no-nonsense, foot-tapping, head-nodding, rock & roll.

If you're thinking of songs like "the Whole of the Moon" - yup, this is the same singer. I don't think his voice has changed all that much. I like this tune too.
Reminds me of T-Bone Burnett...
If this is the same singer as from the Waterboys heyday, his voice sounds really different.
I like this! Thanks, Bill and Rebecca.
