The tree don't care what the little bird sings
We go down with the dew in the morning light
The tree don't know what the little bird brings
We go down with the dew in the morning

And we breathe it in
There is no need to forgive
Breathe it in
There is no need to forgive

The trees will stand like pleading hands
We go down with the dew in the morning light
The trees all stand like pleading hands
We go down with the dew in the morning

And we breathe it in
There is no need to forgive
Breathe it in
There is no need to forgive

The trees will burn with blackened hands
We returned with the light of the evening
The trees will burn with blackened hands
Nowhere to rest, no where to land

We know who you are
We know where you live
And we know there's no need to forgive

We know who you are
We know where you live
And we know there's no need to forgive

We know who you are
We know where you live
And we know there's no need to forgive

We know who you are
We know where you live
And we know there's no need to forgive... again

It amazes me that someone could allow the title of a song to mean more to them than the actual music.

Also, this.
There is a great feature doc about Nick Cave  - if I recall it's title is 20,000 days - try to catch it somewhere

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Nick has his own melancholy groove though.

Leonard got on my nerves in the years before he checked out, but I still miss him.
Peeps of Brighton are doing it tough at the moment, just ask Karen:

I wondered the same thing, and according to Wiki:   Brighton is an affluent coastal suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Thanks for asking, cuz now I know more about one of the places I want to visit one day...LLRP!!

It reminds me of Closer - Kings of Leon

Soon to become timeless
Lovely female vocals following Nick Cave, stating: "We know who you are" and "There is no reason to forgive". Beautifully chilling.
Killer song
This song is titled like Prince wrote it.

1970s when I saw them, and probably long before then for others: silly things like "2 Good 2 B 4 Gotten", 2 Young 4 A 6 Pack", etc.
Am I bad for liking Cave better as a scriptwriter than a songwriter?

Those sort of deliberate misspellings are pretty old school - old school yearbooks, that is - long before texting.  Still, it always sort of bugged me.  I guess Mr. Cave had his reasons.

Liking the Australian music string.  Thanks Bill.
Not the best one on this record, enjoyable though. The whole thing is much better! {#Cheesygrin}
This song is great, and the music is strong idnit?  Like Sly and the Family Stone's "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)" , it shouldn't get lower grades cuz da spellin'

Those sort of deliberate misspellings are pretty old school - old school yearbooks, that is - long before texting.  I'm not sure why no one here remembers that - maybe they're too old to remember having their school yearbooks signed.  Still, it always sort of bugged me.  I guess Mr. Cave had his reasons.
Apparently Nick's son had taken a pretty huge dose of LSD and while on his own tragically went over a cliff local to us and died as a result of his injuries. At the inquest, some people had seen him in distress but were unable to get to him quickly enough.

He was only 15.

He leaves behind his twin brother and a devastated family.

I had personally seen him on occasion about in Brighton. . . and while I never actually met him I can only imagine the anguish.

What a sad, sad, story.

Say a prayer for Nick & family. Lost a son on Tuesday......

{#Pray}
To Nick Cave....My condolences for the tragic loss of your son.
RIP Arthur.  So sad I don't get to see your contribution to the world.
Excellent song! Super artist

...nothing compares 2 him...
That part at the end where they're chanting the chorus "we know who you are" with the hypnotic music and the flute, it reminds me of those 1960s zombie cult movies, like Manos: Hands Of Fate.

"We know you you are, and we know where you live, and we're gonna get you."  (spooky flute plays)

He was recently on Austin City Limits - worth checking out on PBS.
