Trouble needs a home girls,
trouble needs a home.
She fell out with Satan,
now she's on the run.
But I have found her quite straightforward
in her contracts and her deals
she warns me when Danger is
loose behind his wheels
and he is loose behind his wheels.
Don't cry baby...

Trouble got evicted,
from the Devil's lair.
I wager she got betrayed
by her friend Despair.
Now the flames from Satan's tongue are charged
and licking at her heels
She whispers "Hey Ginger, Danger's loose behind his wheels"
And Satan knows how Danger makes you feel.
What will be will be, baby...

You don't, you don't need to cry.
There are no tears in my eyes
If Danger wants to find me,
I'll let him in, he can find me.

Trouble needs a home girls,
a covert abode
from Tucson to Ohio
back through Tobacco road.
And she is armed and will fight for the souls
of girls around the world.
Standing up to Satan,
dancing on st. Michael's sword.
I'm on her side, in this brutal war.
Don't cry baby...

You don't, you don't need to cry.
There are no tears in my eyes
If Danger wants to find me,
I'll let him in, he can find me.

Trouble needs a home girls,
trouble needs a home.
Trouble needs a home girls,
will you give her one.
Trouble needs a home,
trouble needs a home...

Sounds like a classic from the 1990s.  It's always nice when artists stay true to their own style and talent.
This album was such a nice return to form for her.
I still have my box of cornflakes Bill, it's a treasured gift.

If only I wasn't so attracted to Trouble...

And here I am thinking Things We Said Today -- and glancing semi-aghast [if that's quantitatively possible] at the things others have said over the years.

Love the vocal performance on this song...

This isn't true. Get off it. Imagine if we treated men who play guitars and sing the same way we treat women who happen to play piano and sing. We'd never have time to complain about anything else.

I don't know what it is about pathological need some people have to either denigrate or otherwise find a way minimize and/or invalidate the accomplishment/creativity of woman musicians.

Anyway, this song/album was a nice return to form for Tori Amos and I'm happy to hear it here.

Musical insubordination is the greatest complement any Establishment can bestow upon a musical artist!!!!  She should be proud!!! What an accomplishment at such a young age!!!

No.  The most over-played artists are Suzanne Vega, Tracey Chapman, Norah Jones and Moby.

I plead ignorance. What is so horrific about this artist? Her piano work is really effective and works so well with the vocals, which tend to be interesting and intelligently composed. Her voice is distinct and clear. Yet somehow she is considered "pretentious", another term tossed around in this comments section that rarely makes much sense to me in the context of the piece. Oh well, I like her music.

All her songs seem to be about the same thing for one thing.

That certainly shouldn't disqualify her music from being seriously considered, any more than it should for Jim Morrison or Robert Plant or Michael Hutchence or whoever else on the masculine side of the spectrum. Women artists get slagged for the way they sing or move on stage or look, way more than their male counterparts, and it doesn't matter if they look & sound like Tori Amos or Amy Ray or Fiona Apple or Tracy Chapman or somewhere in between, it just changes the angle of attack.

what's  the use of copy/pasting something from wiki?

Anyway, TA's one trick is makin annoying songs but evidently for some weird reason there are people that like them.

I LOOOVE RP and I am a supporter.  But there's just way too much Tori.
Her 1987 album, "Y Kant Tori Read" was re-released 6 days ago, after 30 years in hiding.
Wonder if we'll hear any of those tracks on RP, heheheh.
Isn't Tori a character on Game of Thrones.......you know the one.

Doesn't she have other songs besides this one?  I only seem to hear this one on RP.

My son has an old service dog, who I'm sure would stand by you well. Oh, wait. You can no longer read this.
This is sounds a bit further 'out West' than Tori's other offerings I've heard. I like the change-ups.

Somewhere between Kate Bush and Loreena McKennitt and failing at both ends.

Peter Gabriel is probably among the most played but the others are probably well behind other artists such as Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Tom Petty, Mark Knopfler/Dire Straits, David Byrne/Talking Heads, U2, Bob Dylan, Radiohead, etc., in terms of exposure here.
How are your eyes doing?
excellent time for a coffee break.

without music.
Always been a Tori fan, but this track doesn't come close to her earlier material.

Do not question the Porcupine Tree.

The 4 artists you complain about above are a perfect summary of this station, so perhaps you are listening to the wrong station?  There's a clear channel station in your local market that should satisfy your pop music tastes.  The rest of us here will continue to enjoy artists that are far too good to be on FM radio.

And now I have to turn it off.....

No.  She just annoys me.

The KB influence is certainly there (she even played 'And Dream Of Sheep' at the Portland show last week), but she knocked KB off her Queen-of-singer-song-writer perch a long time ago.

To me, Tori Amos' albums have been a bit crap for the last ten years, but the latest album (UG) is as good as anything she has offered in the last 23 years.

Wonderful song.  Well crafted, well sung and great lyrics.

Loving Tori's work as usual.  Must get my hands on the album.

Trouble is it sounds too much like "Things We've Said Today".

I'd say "over-played" about a few other artists here, like Johnny Cash. {#Razz}  However, one can never get too much of the 'Tree or Gabriel.

When I was 19, I thought that it was so hot the way that she practically fucks her piano -- now, it just looks silly -- embarrassing, actually.

This.

Although, I have to say that this song doesn't absolutely suck -- which is what I think about most of her music.  I am busy at work, however I still didn't hit PSD -- to which I am amazed!
Simply wonderful.
Fifteen or twenty years ago I saw Tori on some TV show. Can't remember which one, but that's irrelevant. What is important is that her WILDLY dramatic piano playing and singing scared me away. It wasn't until this last year or so, mostly thanks to RP, that I began to develop an appreciation for her. Now, the more I hear, the more I like. Thanks, Bill.

I used to like her much more in the past but I find that high, swooping vocal trademark thing she does more irritating all the time. Probably a strong 7, or even 8 without that part of the vocals. Now it's a 4.
"Trouble needs a home, girls, will you give her one"

51 and still not "over it"
If this is any indication - I'm optimistic about this new album.  I agree with others - would like to see her get back to her more edgy roots for sure.
She's gorgeous    I admire her work, always interesting
I became a fan with Little Earthquakes...still a fan.
Regardless of where she's been musically or where she's going for that matter, this is good.  An 8 on first listen.

She will be 51 this year. That's certainly not too young to retire.

Well, it is better than most of her music - I'm not sure if that is because I am hearing it for the first time, or if it is going to sound better or worse with time ...
Sounds pretty good.  I have lost touch with Tori's music because she got too "contemporary soft easy listening" for me, especially when I listened to Night of Hunters and one song was sung by a child.  I don't dig that.

This sounds like she is getting a little closer to her roots, maybe not as edgy, but she's making progress.
I believe this is the second Tori Amos song today. One a day is plenty (too much if you ask me).

Hurrah!
