Oh London moon
Help me stumble home
Let me lose myself along the way
I've got nothing left
It's kind of wonderful
Cause there's nothing they can take away
Away
The open doors
Left me wanting more
Never thought they'd close them all away
The ordinary life they want for you
Is it too much to have to bear?
But it's another way to win a useless fight
You've been lying so long from the way that you're faking
(See the water run and rise)
Just another day into a useless night
I been pushing so hard that my hands are shaking
(See the water run and rise)
But I've been turned around
I was upside down
I thought love would always find a way
But I know better now
Got it figured out
It's a perfect world all the same
World
But I've been turned around
I was upside down
I thought love would always find a way
But I know better now
Got it figured out
It's a perfect world all the same
World, world, world, world
World, world, world, world
I was hoping for
An easy rambling life
Till an ocean came to my mind
We look for exit signs
But we can't be changed
Into nothing overnight
Though we know it's over
It keeps exploding
Every morning when we rise

At this point a "classic" in my book; an "8"
I like it - 7 may go up to an 8

Hilarious!  One of the best reply in the last 20 years.  (That's as long as I've been on this site.)
Getting the Shins vibes from this... love it!

What 1950's Popular Science edition did that prediction come from?

I agree, but, you're giving the poster a bit too much credit IMO.  "Thinking" requires a functioning brain.

Solid 8.5
I love this band and I love this album. One of the rare occurrences where the 'sophomore' album was better than the original
I'm hearing a very similar vocal sound to Jackson Browne in the bridge, I think...
This music is spiffing.
Nice...
Real music by real musicians including a real drummer. Not bad at all, in fact, "Quite Likeable".
I especially love the little thing his voice does at the very last bit of the vocals.

It's such a bad remix of "Fields of Gold" that it bears almost no resemblance to it at all.  Different chord progression for one thing.
James Mercer / Dangermouse = Great Music
Riding on the Metro...

Still can't figure out whether that beat comes from some Drumtraks or Yamaha RX-5 or a real drummer with blood and tears. Just for the benefit of the doubt, I should say this song has something catchy.

No fills, no lag, no cymbals except for the last bar of the verse and chorus. A machine. Still, yes, a good song.

Had it been released in the 80's instead of 2014, at least that snare drum would have sounded clean.
Love these guys. Wish they would release more.

Danger Mouse!

I think that these guys make amazing grooves together. There is always something essentially JAM going on in their music and I like it!
wohooo 80-ies duran-duran, but this is not it. Loved the 80-ies, but this is a shambles, muzak for sure
I likee but I reserve the right to defend those who have a different opinion than mine (pompous emoticon)

what a f.. cliche!
80's pop meets 21st century pop (eg. The Shins). Awesome!
Horrible. And it doesn't seem to end.

I just love this song and the whole album. May be my age and the intelligent reuse of the 80s used throughout. :)
Best old new song I've heard in ages.  Like it a lot.

Anyone else catch that little Flock of Seagulls guitar riff?!

Yeah, that and the synth. The beginning of this song reminds me of Death Cab for Cutie's "Doors Unlocked and Open."

exactly, pop trash would be Rihanna and Co, this song is far from it !

Nor I. (Lessee, in 15 years…I probably won't be able to change the channel!)

Yes, "Pop" is one of the many many many kinds of great music they play.

Cool song ... {#Cool}
Reminds me of the late 80s. {#Bananajumprope}
Thanks Bill {#Roflol}
I like the other stuff by Broken Bells that RP plays...just not this. 4.

I guess you could be forgiven for not knowing who and what James Mercer's influences are. But if you wanted to get technical about it, all indie rock bands in general, and Mercer in particular, are referencing one form of pop music or another.

What was it before RP played this enjoyable song?  Just hit PSD until it's the station you want.

Yep. Definite 80s synth pop vibe.
What a nice collaboration with James Mercer (The Shins) and Brian Burton (Danger Mouse)!

This song doesn't seem to know when to end to end to end
Like this, think it has something to do with the short section of the song that reminds me of  Sting's Fields of Gold. In other ways it is very different of course
The listened to Sting's "Fields of Gold" too much I suppose ...
Flagged as a wonderful pop song.
Flag as acceptable - first listen so may be a grower
Flagged as acceptable - first listen so may be a grower
Well now this does ramble on and on....and on.
Aha!!  Now I really know you designed this set list just for me RP !!! Back-to-back brilliant trax...Thank you !!! {#Hug} x x x
i think some bands go for a lost in time kind of vibe...like they know their album is going to be crammed in with everybody elses from every genre and time on the ipod shuffle.
horrible
This album has really grown on me, still not as good as first (at all), but I have grown to really enjoy it, the exception remains that one "bee gees" song - still drives me batty!  Psyched to see them live 7/31 at House of Blues in Chicago!

I agree the intro sounds fantastic on headphones.... They should have kept it instrumemental IMHO

As I mentioned on another BB song blog, I did get the album and it's much better than I anticipated given the couple of songs I heard.  In context - as a whole - it really works.  However, I definitely don't think it is as strong as the first one, and I don't regret picking it up!

Give it time.

I really thought that this was Death Cab for Cutie gone all Black Keys. Very meaty, loads of oomph. Ver' nahce - 8 from the rocking Nottingham jury.

It's really good!
Swings through the jungle fairly well on some vintage vines…
two thumbs way up

Excellent tune --  synth and disco haters need not apply.

Edit: there's some nice guitar work in this, too.

It's not out yet------at least not at Amazon------soon to be released........(last i checked anywho)
Shins influences? Yes, a cooperation of the singer of the Shins with Danger Mouse

keeps cutting in and out for last 2 hrs. Anyone else getting that problem?

Interesting but more than a little repetitive.
