Tell me do you think it'd be all right
If I could just crash here tonight
You can see I'm in no shape for driving
And anyway I've got no place to go
And you know it might not be that bad
You were the best I'd ever had
If I hadn't blown the whole thing years ago
I might not be alone

[Chorus:]
Tomorrow we can drive around this town
And let the cops chase us around
The past is gone but something might be found
To take its place...hey jealousy

And you can trust me not to think
And not to sleep around
If you don't expect too much from me
You might not be let down
Cause all I really want is to be with you
Feeling like I matter too
If I hadn't blown the whole thing years ago
I might be here with you

[Chorus x2]

Tell me do you think it'd be all right
If I could just crash here tonight
You can see I'm in no shape for driving
And anyway I've got no place to go
And you know it might not be that bad
You were the best I'd ever had
If I hadn't blown the whole thing years ago
I might not be alone

[Chorus x2]

Hey jealousy
She took my heart
Well there's only one thing I couldn't start

I had to check that I was still tuned to RP.  Pretty lame stuff, not RP worthy in my mind.

It's not a bad song, it's just got some "meh" lyrics and a rushed delivery. But wow did this get over-played back in the day. Put this one on the back burner, Bill.

Or insist on seeing the manager.
Outstanding!
Sounds like a song from an episode of 'FRIENDS'.

You realize that he was alcoholic and after missing multiple sessions and engagements, the rest of the band did fire him, but in an attempt to get him to seek help, which he did not, and shortly after he committed suicide...but I wouldn't blame the rest of the band like that.

This is the original most people heard, though there's an earlier version off their debut album, Dusted, which was only available on cassette tape until a recent CD reissue.

I read your comment as the line was being sung, brilliant!

I don't know about these lyrics.

They're not really the most profound lyrics, but the tune has a good energy.
Wandering with a backpack on in Europe summer of 1993.

I don't know about these lyrics.
They were a band that played some songs.  Meh

Good little sing-along pop/rock tune. Never wanted to buy the album, but won't change the station when it comes on either.

what a relief, lyrics that make sense and melodic vocals!

Disliked it then, still dislike it now.  Dumb lyrics, boring music.  Especially in light of their peers.

And I could not disagree with you more. This album with the Jayhawks Hollywood Town Hall were the albums of 1992 for me. Outstanding!
fun Rock man     cool, simple rock
I still like it.
Used to think this was directed at the young lady living in the White House when this came out. {#Tongue}

I'm so glad to finally hear the Gin Blossoms on here, especially since I'm Arizona born and raised. This song was the anthem song of the summer of 1993 if memory serves me well. The whole album is very good and big props to Doug as a songwriter. His personal demons cost him his place in the band, but they continued on to write other good songs without him. They had a few huge radio hits, but as noted below, they're stint at the top was short-lived. I got to see them 6 or 7 years ago in a fairly small venue. My friend produced the show and got me their hand-written set-list, signed by everyone.

One of my favorite albums from college. The whole album is worth a listen.
If you like this, the whole album is really good. A personal fave from the 90s...
First play on RP? This song hit the airwaves back in its age.
Oh, The Memories! This group blasted through the radio-waves and into everyone's parties. The vibe was infectious, and alas, short-lived.
Ah, a nice 90s pop gem
