This is way better than the original and definitely better than that of Costello... but hey I guess people prefer happy go easy over reality any day

Elvis Costello's version is the most well-known but it's a Nick Lowe song done first with the band Brinsley Schwarz.

And at the risk of "piling on" this is a disturbing cover of a fine song.

Ears:  Huh?  The Eyes have all your attention at the moment.  We were kinda of sending you an update but not really listening.
Brain:  Fine, yes I was trying to blot you out, but what is that?  It sounds familiar.  Would you take a closer listen please.
Ears:  Sure, wait one...  There did you get that.  Did you figure out what it was?
Brain:  I think so but I'm not sure...  Wait, did you just hear "Peace Love and Understanding"?
Ears:  Let me check...  Yep,  "Peace Love and Understanding".
Brain:  "Peace Love and Understanding", "Peace Love and Understanding".  Where do I know that from.
Ears:  Kinda sounds like another song we haven't heard in awhile.

I think this is an interesting take on the song- obviously trying to go a completely different direction than the original. Good idea, that- how do you ever compete with Elvis Costello's energy on the original?
