from under your sheets out into the hall
you sleepwalk through the rooms where you grew up
out through the porch and the old front doors
carried by words that you learned when you were small
down the stone steps and into the night
it's the boulevard and the hum of her hard lights
and when you open your eyes you're in central park
carried by the words that you learned when you woke up:

even though - i thought i was - all alone - i was wrong
even though - i thought i was - all alone - i am not

you can hurry home to mama and your house of doors
get the bolt in the hole and you can close all the windows
but keeping out the killers and keeping out the creeps
isn't keeping out the doubt and the disbelief
as they look for god in them ivory halls
you can see her on the porch, listening to the radio,
singing that wanderer's song:

even though - i thought i was - all alone - i was wrong
even though - i thought i was - all alone - i am not
even though - i thought i was - i was wrong - i am not

and even if - you're scared stiff - you can trust in this - you can trust in this

BRING THEM BACK, OH UNIVERSE OF MUSIC.  I like these guys, they sound good, the lead singer is familiar and sounds like the Kings of Leon dude or the that Irish guy from Once, Glen Hasgard.

I love how any dissenting opinion is told to just go eff themselves.../s

I actually dig this tune, but am so pissed off at the absolute assholery of people like this that it killed my vibe.   Criticism is actually useful as it demands that the listener better engage with, or challenge that piece of art.  Good criticism deepens our understanding of the item presented and contributes to that art form over time.  It's not god damn elitist to examine things...it's intelligent and interesting.  Otherwise, we're all just fucking robots attached to our feeding tubes automatically clicking our like-y buttons.

i think i had read that the lyrics are an idea that formed from reading Franny and Zoey (probably spelled that wrong). i kind of like that thought.

They're too busy watching Shoresy.

I gave this a thumbs up.  In truth I might have done it before but every time I read the last sentence I laugh out loud (that's LOL for you up and comers).

My feelings, exactly!
thanks for bringing this back, william. it makes me cry every single time.

anything else from Seeds would be lovely to hear, too.

thanks for introducing Hey Rosetta to me many years ago.
Great song!!!
Until I looked at who it was, I thought it was a very rare acceptable (to me) DMB track! Then Samurai Cop appeared after...
Thank You.

Me too. Did you listen to Junge Junge?

Well said.  Very middle of the road, non-offensive music, just like KOL or DM Band.  Or Coldplay, for that matter.  They all need a sharper musical edge.
I'm a sucker for those jangly, overdriven, arpeggiated guitar riffs.

Interesting song with its warm, rockin verse and restrained chorus.  I think you need a better chorus lyrically to pull it off.

yes thats true now that you mention it
Similar sound and voice to Cherry Ghost.
Just love the bass line !

Tautology though that be.

Agree and disagree, agree they are excellent live, disagree they are merely very good on this cut, it's a 10 in my book.  and OMG were they good live.  RIP

Totally sounds like Marc Cohn.  I had to check the playlist to verify it was/wasnt .
great Canadian indie rock band, love that song!
RY X (Berlin) has the same Chorus.  Nice one !

I wouldn't mind more Coldplay, but this isn't Coldplay.
Great live show, love the music.  Can't wait for next tour!

I'd agree with you if that's a random statement, but if it's in relation to this band, I really fail to see the comparison.
Carried by the words that you learned when you woke up:
Wohoo! Then I'm not the only one.
Còol very upbeat
like the strings!
We don't need one more Coldplay
This song's been playing in my head for days, and I couldn't remember it until now. Thanks, Bill!

I can hear some of what you mean but I find this much less annoying (to me) than either of those bands - this sounds more melodic and less grating than most of the stuff from those other two acts.
When I hear this song I think it's a Collective Soul song for a few seconds.

https://youtu.be/OD-I_CU2eU8
I still think the strings are what sets the mood.and the photos on the RP stream are great too !

I love the instrumental part of this song and the singer's voice matches it really well. 8 and most likely going up :)
Those strings are smokin' !

The more I hear it the higher I rate it !

Never heared this before. Very nice tune!
Very nice!  Bill, you are on a roll
Nice pic...

This reminds me rather of the music used for the earlier series of the TV series "Due South", by Jay Semko - which I every much enjoyed. Nice feel, catchy, well arranged... very pleasant indeed.

sounds a little like glen hansard in some spots.
It's OK.  Don't like some of the lyrics, particularly the "I am not" used too many times.  Couldn't give more than a 5 for this one.

I'm pretty sure they're doing that on purpose - it easily avoided if desired.  It doesn't bother me so much, but I could see how it could be distracting sometimes.

oh! I agree. I hate that sound. Pick up your fingers!

for any fans - they're playing a 75 minute set in ottowa soon - taking requests for other songs for their set list besides what's on Seeds via their facebook page.

Bad memories of Paolo Nutini whining.
not bad song from a band from new FOUND land!
everything i hear from this outfit, i really like.
Love these guys.

As for the pronunciations: my family's from there, so a little perspective...

Many people from outside Canada put the emphasis on "New". That's OK and it doesn't sound that weird.

But most people from Canada (and almost everybody on the island) put the emphasis on "land". So if you're looking to pick one, pick that one.

Just never put the emphasis on "found".
its new FOUND land
Love it! More of them, please!

Bill, just a slight correction in your pronunciation of Newfoundland. The emphasis should be on land not new. It should be pronounced like understand - understand, Newfoundland.

Just saw these guys Saturday night opening for Gomez in Asheville, NC.  Great show. They really delivered. Got to talk to the bass player down in the bar and congratulated him on an excellent set.

Such solid lyrics! Will also be seeing them @ Sasquatch this year =D
I prefer Hey Rosetta by the indie band Young Glass
The first time I ever head Hey Rosetta was in Halifax at a weekend summer music fest.  Black keys also played.  But it was Hey Rosetta that just blew me away!
Nice!  I don't remember hearing any other Newfs on here before.  Congrats b'ys!

Also, congrats on opening for Gomez.

Warning to the rest of you: Newfs are taking over the world!
I guess it's a 6 on first listen, since they have both fiddle AND squeeky guitar,    there is no reason to hope I don't hear it again.
