I'm walking through streets that are dead
Walking, walking with you in my head
My feet are so tired, my brain is so wired
And the clouds are weeping

Did I hear someone tell a lie?
Did I hear someone's distant cry?
I spoke like a child; you destroyed me with a smile
While I was sleeping

I'm sick of love but I'm in the thick of it
This kind of love I'm so sick of it

I see, I see lovers in the meadow
I see, I see silhouettes in the window
I watch them 'til they're gone and they leave me hanging on
To a shadow

I'm sick of love; I hear the clock tick
This kind of love; I'm love sick

Sometimes the silence can be like the thunder
Sometimes I wanna take to the road and plunder
Could you ever be true?
I think of you
And I wonder

I'm sick of love; I wish I'd never met you
I'm sick of love; I'm trying to forget you

Just don't know what to do
I'd give anything to
Be with you

How is it that Mariachi's #1 song on Spotify (Cell Mates) pales in comparison to Love Sick?

I love this band.  We saw them live with Flogging Molly one St. Patty's day and their energy is amazing.  We didn't sit down that entire concert!

While it might seem like a funny question, the simple fact is that NO ONE has been covered MORE THAN Mr. Bob Dylan.  Some here have tried to list them out - it would take a very long time to complete the entire list, and even the (somewhat smaller) list of those that "can" sing.  Nonetheless, as I often say about Bob's singing, it's not always what you should hear (a "good" singing voice") when the song is about love loss, longing, etc.

I wont try to persuade anyone else, other than to share this Slate article. https://www.slate.com/articles/arts/music_box/2017/03/bob_dylan_is_a_great_singer.html

Peace, Love and RnR - not always in that order!

All Along the Watchtower...Jimi
To Ramona...Sinead Lohan

Dylan and this artist are two big faves of mine. This is a 9 for me.  I define a good singing voice as an expressive one that conveys the composer's emotional intent.

I am sure you can find some Karen Carpenter on Spotify.

Not a Carpenters fan here but I do like their cover of "Superstar."

I *am* a Leon Russell fan. I take it he is on Spotify...

Hahahahahahaha...awesome.
Reminds me of John Lennon's song how do you sleep
"could you ever be true? I think of you , ... and I wonder"
buckets of rain, buckets of tears- got all these buckets comin' outta my ears

seems like I am always quoting the Bard

The good thing about artists covering Bob Dylan is that I can understand what THEY are singing.

Depending on who gathers the data, or how it's gathered, or how reliable the sources are, there could be different tallies of which artist was covered the most.  I imagine ASCAP and BMI would have the most reliable numbers.  However, most lists I've seen over the years show The Beatles as the most-covered artists.  Of course it's somewhat skewed because there were three different composers.
Why all the brouhaha  over this guy?
There is an album called "Dylan Country" and it consists of 15 different country artists, each doing a song, e.g.,  Cash, Jennings, Byrds.

Emmylou Harris and Kitty Wells covers are utterly fantastic. .

I've never heard Dylan's version, but I can't imagine it being as interesting or as creative as this version.  And ANY singer sounds better than Dylan, so there is that.  It's a 7 for me.
Kind of liked it better when performed by Lili von Shtupp

The original is one of my least favorite Dylan songs, but this cover is just fantastic.

Well Dylan isn't RnR, so we good.
Bit of trivia: That's the son of Los Lobos' David Hidalgo smashing on the drums.
And there I was wondering what this new stuff from Ian Anderson was {#Ask}

It would sound quite confusing if they did.

Stevie Wonder, Adele, Van Morrison also
Yikes! {#Cool}
Wow, a lot of complaints about this song. I really enjoy Mariachi El Bronx and think they're fantastic (and have a fantastic story about how they came to be—heard it on NPR). Gotta admit though...I really do not much care for Dylan. So, this cover was an improvement for me!

But you have to admit that it was a really funny question...

Swing and a miss, but at least he stepped up to the plate.
Love this take.  Can Mariachi El Bronx please cover all of his songs - especially since Jimi Hendrix isn't around to follow up the awesomeness of "All Along the Watchtower" with other covers?
Why he's so cruel with this fine song? {#Fire}

Those horns are awesome...  this is a dang good cover...  love it...

I love this song but this is horrible.
c'mon folks...get outta your box...this is really pretty cool...
Has anyone with a good voice ever covered Dylan?
A 5 for the horns, but the rest of the song is killin' me!  {#Eek}
I don't slam much. But - c'mon, play the original, which is tremendous (and which has nothing to do w the chimes of freedom).

This version? Like food poisoning on a bad acid trip in a very scary third world cuidad.
Well, this is unfortunate.
I love the Dylan version of this, well, I mean Dylan's original version....this guys version, well if your stuck in some foreign karoke bar maybe....
Good stuff. I too cannot get it out of my head.
Not sure why they have Dylan on the cover of their album though.
;-)
Much to my dismay, this song is really growing on me. I really want to hate it, but I am starting to like it. Heard it the other day, and haven't been able to get it out my head since.
Easy now. No need to be so serious b'y.
This is on the very short list of worst crap heard on RP since I joined eight years ago. It's a cover parody, right? But Bill, you just described it without editorial remarks. I'm shocked and disappointed.
Fresh, Inventive, Quirky. What's not to like? 8
Can we just call this the "Stick Your Head in the Oven Set" and be done with it already?

Don't insult CAKE that way. This song suckity suck suck sucks.
Hmm, good to hear these guys on here, but definitely not the best of their material in my view. Yeah, I know, I should upload something better...

Agreed. This does not work for me.

Me too - dire.

Personally, I think the song was pretty cool though, in its own right, regardless of comparisons with the original.

Hmmm... I sense a strong disturbance in the force. It is as if a thousand "10" ratings are suddenly accompanied by a new vote a bit more in the middle.

(Check) No they haven't, the universe is safe for now. Wink

I don't often comment on the songs here.  I feel the need.  I actually like this.  I like it as much as the original maybe even more with time!

Not feeling it - Please give me the original, thank you

Extremely offbeat band- they are out there at like 5-sigma... I like  'em.
This album has great covers. I recommend it.
sounds forced to me. 3
