"Someway, baby, it's part of me, apart from me."
You're laying waste to Halloween
You fucked it friend,
It's on it's head,
It struck the street
You're in Milwaukee, off your feet

... and at once I knew I was not magnificent
Strayed above the highway aisle
(Jagged vacance, thick with ice)
I could see for miles, miles, miles

3rd and Lake it burnt away, the hallway
Was where we learned to celebrate
Automatic bought the years you'd talk for me
That night you played me 'Lip Parade'
Not the needle, nor the thread, the lost decree
Saying nothing, that's enough for me

... and at once I knew I was not magnificent
Hulled far from the highway aisle
(Jagged, vacance, thick with ice)
I could see for miles, miles, miles

Christmas night,
It clutched the light,
The hallow bright
Above my brother,
I and tangled spines
We smoked the screen to make
It what it was to be
Now to know it in my memory:

... and at once I knew I was not magnificent
High above the highway aisle
(Jagged vacance, thick with ice)
I could see for miles, miles, miles

Music I love, untangled from the moment, a delicate melancholy floating above treetops and my tired head, sketches of formative past experiences amplified by time, a realization--in reflection and reminisce--that these experiences are a shared human journey, somehow bringing me closer to those I love.
This song is like an oyster. You have to do some effort before it opens itself to you. The reward is pure, exciting and delicious.
Whatever that was, it was horrible
First time I've heard them and it will be the last. Miserable music.
Enunciation is so overrated.

Aye.

They got that woodsy falsetto sound goin' on.
Have very good friends who like him - not me  -  2 from me.
I don't understand a word.

So it gets a 7 based on the title 'cus I'm a geologist. .{#Crashcomp} (pretend the computer is a rock)
Check out the video from Coachella, "The Wolves". Would love to see this band anytime, anyplace.
When I first heard this band I thought "these guys are good" and I still do really think they're good (they, him, whatever) but I just don't care. Nothing they've done grabs me at all.
truly awful. so glad it's finally over.
can't stand the high pitch of the voices in this band - I rush to hit PSD as soon as any of their music comes on

Um: Everything posted should be appropriate for all ages.

Just teasin'...
Nice. This is going to be one of those tunes that'll probably grow in my psyche over time and I'll like it more. But it grabbed my attention right away. Weird vocals though twisting through some kind of a machine, or cardboard paper towel tube?

Sash-  That's why The Black Keys are so GOOD, plus you should check out The Black Angels!!

Thanks for the recommendation. I was tepid on the Keys at first but they've really grown on me as I've become more acquainted with their back catalogue. Perhaps I'll feel the same way about this guy some day.
I've memorized the rotation. I knew this song would play next.

sing  (sng)
v. sang (sng) or sung (sng), sung, sing·ing, sings
To utter a series of words or sounds in musical tones.
To vocalize songs or selections.
To perform songs or selections as a trained or professional singer.

whine  (hwn, wn)
v. whined, whin·ing, whines

To utter a plaintive, high-pitched, protracted sound, as in pain, fear, supplication, or complaint.
To complain or protest in a childish fashion.
To produce a sustained noise of relatively high pitch: jet engines whining.

...I'm pretty sure those handing out music contracts aren't in the business of selling terrible
childish fashion whining. You either like the style of "singing" or you don't, it's subjective but it isn't whining. Going on a song comment page and posting your uneducated opinion is.

I don't think when people use the term "whining" they mean it as per the dictionary definition. (I'd be surprised if you actually thought that's what they meant?!) Besides, if we are allowed to describe all singing only as "singing" it becomes a bit difficult to express oneself...

I hope I don't get to see you checking for the proof.

Excellent tune!  He has a vibe of a modern day Nick Drake...IMHO.

Just here to point out that "they" is a "he."  Bon Iver is one man - Justin Vernon.  He has guys that play with him on tour, but the albums are all his, with guest performers.
Lucky enough to catch them twice on this years tour and my appreciation reached new heights...tough to describe in words...

intense, intimate, exhilarating, heart wrenching would be a few though.

Catch 'em if you can.

Terrible. Worst song I've heard since their other song.

They won best new artist grammy for 2012.  I think the verdict is still out on them.  I need to hear them a good deal more.  How the heck did they pull that win off?  Who's nephew is he?
Holy Carp! A theme song for the geomorphology thread.
YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!
Great video

Love the double drum set... and I agree, these guys sounded great on SNL. Makes me wanna see them live in an outdoor event, at dusk.
totally awful.  droning, depressing, whiney. {#Crashcomp}
I've had a Christmas card with that cover illustration.

Hmmm, I kinda really wanted to like this band after seeing the SNL performance. Nice music, but those UBER-intense-and-serious falsetto vocals just don't do it for me {#Frown}

I had a boney Vare once. I fed it a lot, and it eventually put some weight on.
I like their video :)

As melacholic as winter in the Midwest. Appropriate as I'm looking out the window today.
