I don't like walking around this old and empty house.
So hold my hand, I'll walk with you my dear.

The stairs creak as I sleep, it's keeping me awake.
It's the house telling you to close your eyes.

And some days I can't even dress myself.
It's killing me to see you this way.

'Cause though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore.

There's an old voice in my head that's holding me back.
Well tell her that I miss our little talks.

Soon it will be over and buried with our past.
We used to play outside when we were young
And full of life and full of love.

Some days I don't know if I am wrong or right.
Your mind is playing tricks on you my dear.

'Cause though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore.

Don't listen to a word I say.
The screams all sound the same.
Though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore.

You're gone, gone, gone away, I watched you disappear.
All that's left is a ghost of you.
Now we're torn, torn, torn apart, there's nothing we can do,
Just let me go we'll meet again soon.
Now wait, wait, wait for me, please hang around,
I'll see you when I fall asleep.

Don't listen to a word I say.
The screams all sound the same.
Though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore.

5, like a stone.
Who came first? Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes or these guys? Sounds to me like Of Monsters and Men could easily cover the Zeroes "Home" and vice versa.   Oops, in scrolling down I see mention of this was made in here as far back as 2012. Oh well.
I HATE these songs with their pre-programmed singalong HEY parts.
So transparently manipulative.
It was 3. Now it's a 2. It has my PSD finger itching.

Uh oh... down to a 4 now. {#Flamed}
Am I the only one that hears Conor Oberst's vocals in this group?
I agree...and in the year or so since you posted this, it's been played to death in the U.S., too.  I'm totally bored of this song!

Early in his career there were many comparisons of his vocal and musical style to those of Bob Dylan and/or The Byrds (specifically Roger McGuinn).

Arcade Fire called.... they want their unique sound returned posthaste.
They should have added a whip crack to the chorus.  About the only thing that could make it more melodramatic and over-the-top.

Her accent is adorable! However, I would love to see someone remake this song with music that better exemplifies the sentiment of the lyrics.

Yes, this is just like FM radio where they play the same song every 2 hours...

Oh and it's only been played twice in the past 30 days as of today.

Great song!

Anyone else reminded of The Beautiful South, when hearing this?

Hey !
Hey !
Hey !

it's the 'Hey' song - love this - nice happy song, really quirky.

I like this song.  I'm still trying to figure out the meaning of it - any thoughts?
This song has that certain quality you get when the vocalist has not mastered idiomatic English ... meh.
Okay, this entire thread just confirmed my immediate reaction to this song. Very Magnetic (Zeros).

I totally agree about they similar sound to The Beautiful South. Enjoying this.
Had to look up the lyrics to see the context of "this s#!t will kill ya" - boy was I disappointed. {#Lol}

All sorts of negative comments, most based on the fact that this achieved success on mainstream radio.

So did 'Let It Be', but I bet that doesn't get shat on in this forum. (Just for example)

Another Icelandic band making it in the States is good to see! Bjork, Sigur Ros, these guys, and a couple others I can't think of now. From a country with a population of only 300,000!
Sooooo, you got the Arcade Fire and Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros records.....
It just gets more and more annoying as the song goes on.  Dropping it to 3.
Banal lyrics; fatuous "Hey!".  A 4 at best, definitely an annoying cut.
 jagdriver wrote:

It was OK until the repeated "Hey!", at which point I thought I was watching a Russian dance.

That's my favorite part. Which is why I prefer the old version that is more like a live show, rather than a studio record. It's probably because I am Russian, but honestly, the song sounds Nordic to me :)
I'm getting really sick of these songs
Last time I was in Aberdeen ,Yawn !

Liked it on RP when it was fresh and new. Now that Commercial radio has ruined it for me... 8 > 6

Whenever I hear this one and it gets to the "Don't listen to the words I say" I sing "Home is whenever I with you" after instead. There's gotta be a mashup out there showing how similar they are.

that's what I thought as well. The Magnetic Zeroes.
Sounds remarkably similar to their "Home" song.

I think you really mean that you don't like it, in which case even one play is overplay. Which is fair enough, but 4 plays a month doesn't really count as overexposure unless you're being really critical.

Maybe not here on RP, but it's definitely being overplayed on the radio.  (at least in my neck of the woods)

Like the song quite a bit, but the mix from Ennio Morricone's For A Few Dollars to this was a little bit jarring and it took a few choruses before I really got into it.
 Yeah, I thought so also.

I think "THANK YOU FOR THE PSD BUTTON!" every time I hear this song cranking up.
seems whenever I have the unpleasant experience of hearing commercial radio, it is this song playing.

New one coming out this Spring/Early Summer, I think.
Very nice song!
All of the comments I wish to make were already made. Good song, and well thought-out.

Very nice.  Reminds me of a modern day 'The Beautiful South'.   Not sure why.

Well holey-moley me oh my!

Yes it's catchy and yes it's super-derivative... everyone thinks they sound like someone else "David Fricke of Rolling Stone Magazine called them "New Arcade Fire"<2> and Iceland's Mumford and Sons." (from the wiki link)

Man she sounds like Bjork. Good song though. I definitely agree with the similarity to Sharpe and the Zeros.
