That taste
All I ever needed
All I ever wanted
Too dumb to surrender

She shakes
Like the morning railway
Checking me out
With someone on her shoulder

The lamp
Flickers in the bedroom
She must feel as awkward
Whorehouse Arizona

Now go
Stand up to a giant
Say that I'm a fighter
Too drunk to remember
Too drunk to...

Shake hands
My face is laying on the pavement
Tasting something awful
I hate when that happens

She waves
Thinking that its sexy
She must be plum crazy
I kinda think I like her
I kinda think I do

Dour and dire
Sounds in my ears like a slightly stoned imitation of Guy Garvey ...

Kind of agree. I love just about everything of theirs that I hear but listening to whole albums and their music does seem to blend together in a way that diminishes the individual tracks.  Not that my opinion matters, and not sure why I'm writing this, social media opinions are the most worthless of human communications.
Uh, not for me. Skip.
If they want new content to play (and who doesn't) They maybe should give a listen to Rainbow Kitten Surprise.
just upped it to 8 for its simple lyrics that made me smile

i forgot all about this one.
good to hear again.

now it makes me want to hear another track by them, i think it's called Milk. love that one, too.
Is he always whining?
I wasn't always a fan of Kings of Leon until I saw them live, they are excellent and their music has really grown on me. I recommend catching them live if you can.

My comment will bring little value to the discourse and some will rightfully disagree but I had to share....
I find this group's music ok but the whinny pain sort of signing is off-putting.
One could imagine lyrics going "Oh my God, that is a big number 2, trying to come through...."

I apologize.....

I can totally understand your point, as me too was turned off by the singers voice when i first heard Kings of Leon.
But, as Bill would put it, its an "aquired taste", and now i dig it.

Ouch, that hurts my ears. Skip.

The bass works.

Yeah, ten for me.

Terrible. As bad as Counting Crows?

Yep both are awful. This song just rambles along and goes nowhere, painful stuff.

Almost funny enough to keep instead of the correct ones. Almost... :-)
Love his voice.

I like some of their tunes better than this one, though I get what you say about not liking something others like, and well, that's really a good thing....otherwise we'd have no discussions about anything and life would be BOR-ING.  Long Live RP!!

Everyone's got that group everyone else loves, but you don't. I find them hard to like - I guess because their songs all sound like the same one-trick pony to me.

Everyone else enjoy - I'll muddle through.

I thought he sang "She's shaped... like a model railway...". That certainly gave me a moment's pause as I tried to envision that.

I love that these guys are played on RP.
Kings of Leon are often dismissed by the "cool" crowd as just another Hootie and the Blowfish or Counting Crowes (who both have a few great songs IMO).
I think KoL have have a really original and unique sound... and i like the singers voice and delivery, whether he's "in tune" or not.
That cover photo is so cliched.

There have been many "singers" over the years that don't seem to carry a tune.
We have heard that about how Mr. Dylan, Mr. Young and many other artists can't sing?
What about the soul of the tune. Joe Cocker (early stuff), Adel, Eric Burdon, Ray Charles, Van Morrison & many old blues singers. They all have our love from the way they sing.
Johnny Cash wasn't a tuneful singer but is much regarded.
Soul counts for much. Frankly, more than pitch.
There are many singers with no soul. Pitch perfect, but empty.
That said, they can perform  in a way that makes them stars.

So what is it?

Some care for tone, or execution of scale, others the execution of soul.
There is more to "singing" than tone & tune.

number7 - you spit the truth SOULFULLY here....I've said something similar on other (mostly BD) tracks and you've said it better...thanks for that and KUDOS...

This is a strong 7 for me...and I've been digging his voice for awhile now.  Long Live the Followill family and Long Live RP!!

Bloody great song. I agree his voice isn't for everyone, but I love it. Hope he never quite gets that jobbie out!

I think Screamin' Jay would like to contribute to that pile:

Bill, this definitely needs to get on RP's playlist.
You could buy one KOL album and pretty much cover their entire works.  Songs all sound alike.  Same guitar licks, same droll singing, same plodding beat.  Likable tunes, but if you heard one you heard them all.

This is sadly the last good Kings of Leon album, at least in my opinion.
Hyde park, last summer, good times :)
My daughter was so happy she turned me on the this band, sabout the time of this release. Thanks to Bill I am often first. But, glad she did.
Take the marbles out of your mouth and learn how to sing.
Nothing wrong with this that I can hear.
