Lyrics:

What a waste, I could've been your lover
What a waste, I could've been your friend
Perfect love is like a blossom that fades so quick
When it's blowing up a storm in May

Travel south until your skin turns, woman
Travel south until your skin turns brown
Put a language in your head and get on a train
And then come back to the one you love

Yeah you're great, you're just part, of this lifetime of dreaming
That extends to the heart of this long summer feeling
Quiet night, you see the TV's glowing
Quiet night, you hear the walls are awake

Me and you are getting out of the party crowd
Can I see what's underneath your bed?
Can I stay until the milkman's working?
Can I stay until the cafe awakes?

Do you hate me in the light?
Did you get a fright?
When you looked across from where you lay

Yeah you're great, you're just part, of this lifetime of dreaming
That extends to the heart of this long summer feeling
All the history of wars I invent in my head
Little Lou, Ugly Jack, Prophet John

All the history of wars I invent in my head
Little Lou, Ugly Jack, Prophet John

What a waste, I could've been your lover

What a waste, I could've been your friend

Sorry Fred. . . did you just say something? I was in some kind of coma brought on by an overload of twee.
Horrible. Please make them go away.
Pretty hard on the pancreas, I'll agree, but this little Venus vs Mars tidbit is kinda worthwhile:
He said
What a waste, I could've been your lover
She said

What a waste, I could've been your friend

Haven't we all heard that a million times?

And this made me shut off RadioParadise.  Just so ya know.
Nice!
I THINK THEY SOUND MIGHTY FINE(SOMEBODY HAS TO SAY SOMETHING NICE, HAHAHA)
Awfully nice for a sunny afternoon...

I like Norah Jones, but her voice isn't that good a fit for B&S. Campbell has that same amateurish (I mean that in a good way) breathy quality as Stuart Murdoch.

Agreed; I'm indifferent to Belle and Norah in general, but thought he had a nice groove going on until she chimed in.

The lady on the cover looks like a little better preserved Linda Hamilton.

(no comment on the song because it's so forgettable that I forget what I was going to say about it)

Agreed, Norah is the highlight of the song. However, I must give a point for the title.

No, no no no, NOOOO!  {#Puke}

Reminiscent of some old Rod Stewart tune. Can't grab the name from that deep in my memory.

That's the one.

This band are the very definition of "irritatingly twee". They are the essence of twee, triply distilled and purified into a form that can be used as a powerful general anaesthetic in open heart surgery. Ho-Hum isn't expressive enough - Ho-Hum to the 4th power might be closer.

This songs makes me go straight for the Stop button (which is rare).

This band is missing Isobel Campbell! Wish she'd come back!

Uninspiring, lack lustre, and as has been said Norah outshines them drastically. The guitar solo is painful.
I like Norah...dis-like everything else.
Sadly, I'm finding this uncharacteristically "meh" for Belle & Sebastian.
boy this doesnt work...norah's voice just out-classes this band...not that they're a bad band...just the distinction between the quality of vocals doesnt work for me.
Gaaa.  {#Confused}

This would have been significantly better if they let Nora do the lyrics alone.

Exactly what I was thinking. Still a 7.
First Cut is the Deepest -?-

When he's singing solo, sounds like he's channeling some of Paul Simon's mopey songs.
