Every Sunday morning I wake up
I see you by your dresser doing your make-up
Fluttering a Chinese fan in a Knoxville fashion
All last night you tossed and turned
Your body was hotter than the night that Richmond burned
You say you had a bad nightmare about tractor trailers crashing
Throw your arms around me
Let's keep this quiet
Hear our hearts in the distance like cannon fire
See our breath in the window, in the turning light
Oh it's a wonderful Life
You say you were only seventeen
When you fell in love with that dirty Reverend Green
I remember you at the baptism as he held his daughter down
We could hear Thelma and Louise
Making love under the Poplar trees
We could hear some screaming, sounded like a slaughterhouse
Throw your arms around me
Let's keep this quiet
Hear our hearts in the distance like cannon fire
See our breath in the window, in the siren light
Oh It's a wonderful Life
Me and Joey started a fire in the road
Just to watch it glow
His father didn't like it though, he gave Joey a black eye
Me and you we did the same damn thing
We fell in love knowing the pain it would bring
Now all I do is sing sad songs with red eyes
Throw your arms around me
Let's keep this quiet
Hear our hearts in the distance like cannon fire
See our breath in the window, in the turning light
Oh it's a wonderful Life

ANY band with the word "Brothers" in it these days — stay away.

Yeah, sounds a little like Bobby D...  clever lyrics, too...

everybody in my church loves this song...

Bad voice brings out the grinch in everyone. {#Fire}
Happy New Year!
This is what Dylan thinks he sounds like...poor chap. He can only dream of having even a substandard sound as this.
Bob-? Bob Zimmerman-? Minneapolis 1960-? Is that you-?   Sounds like it...
i love love love his voice. great song.

Yes!!!

Are you Tottenham in disguise?
Great to hear this wonderful band on here. I've been trying to upload stuff for three years! Brilliant band, Tonight at the Arizona is their best album imo.

...with the tunefulness of Rod Stewart crossed with Tom Waits. This voice is rougher than a scabby dog's arse, and that's rough. Put the other brother on, FFS - he can't be any worse.

well, i don't care if someone's born with the voice like Bob Dylan, but it is strange to make music similar to Bob Dylan at the same time, have a band instrument as close to some Dylan period sound as this.
Only i didnt catch the lyrics, so I hope it is not similar to Dylan's poetry.

just an opinion, for sure Felice Bros are great musicians.
love love love this song and love the felice bros!
One of the best bands going right now.  GO SEE THEM LIVE!!!  And Moak, you're right amigo.  Too much over analyzing is avoiding what the music is and trying to sound all smart and clued in.  Drives me nuts!  Sometimes the simplest is best.  But simple is not what the Felice Brothers are... not in my opinion.  Fresh take on this genre and staying very close to their Catskills roots and influence. Not to mention, they are not simple.  Poetic, fun sound, and deep at times.

Merry Christmas !!!  PEACEOUT
Seems like the fringe dwellers can tell the best, most tender stories >> 10.

ick, why would ANYONE want to sound like Zim?  Would never catch on.  Strange=6
{#Sleep}
Phrasing from the Ian Hunter songbook - and I like Ian Hunter a lot more.

A cross between Bob Dylan and David Gray.

Deal {#High-five}

Now if we could just get Bill to play the song again, you and I could toast those Felice Brothers {#Cheers}

Take a load off, my friend.  Stop trying to be such a critic.  Over-analyzing songs defeats their purpose.  You'll enjoy the music much more by not thinking so much about the past and future.

I've heard this song (or at least, songs like it) too many times and by too many artists to get into this one. It's not that the song is bad, but the musical ideas have been wrung dry of anything remotely original or interesting. This ground has been covered by Prine, Dylan and many many others, all of whom did a much better job.

Could be coming up to us from some other age.  Very cool.
Finally!  I've been waiting for Bill to play this one!!!
Almost sounded like John Prine when it first started...
