I went around the way for you
Did all the things you asked me to
I thought it was the perfect day
'til she just opened up to say

It doesn't mean a thing to me
It doesn't mean a thing to me
And it's about time you see
Things ain't like they used to be

I headed out to Lester Hill
But that just made me weaker still
She's got the kind of love I need
The kind that's never good on me

It doesn't mean a thing to me
It doesn't mean a thing to me
And it's about time you see
That things ain't like they used to be

Walked into the battle blind
It happens almost all the time
The yard is kinda overgrown
And all those happy times are gone

But it doesn't mean a thing to me
It doesn't mean a thing to me
And it's about time you see
That things ain't like they used to be

It doesn't mean a thing to me
It doesn't mean a thing to me
And it's about time you see
Things ain't like they used to be

I thought this was Paul Rodgers and Bad Company when it first came on.
so strange. i had a very vivid dream last night about patrick. we were very close.
 dreams are so much fun.

The ELO song? i don't hear that at all.

Maybe the Beatles' Dont Let Me Down...
gah. this one hits hard. reminds me of my ex for so many reasons.
My hubby bought this LP after seeing them play on some morning news show (Today Show?) and bought on the attractiveness of Dan and Patrick.  I've spun it a couple of times, but just can grasp the sound. I'll have to spin again I guess. This is nice, but I like their later blues sound.

It's not your imagination. Heartbreak is universal. Sad songs make you feel better. Songs that are happy like "Walking on Sunshine" makes you feel like shit, at least according to songwriter and performing artist  Justin Townes Earle.
1st time in 3.5 years.  Nice to hear some old stuff from the Keys, as I never really was aware of them until "El Camino" blew up.
Dan sure had a rockin' Fleet Foxes-esque beard 10 years ago.

Tell me you don't hear it - seriously, it's clearly a *massive* influence on this song, which isn't a bad thing, as this song is rather good.

Hahahaha!!  and now I am hearing it again 20 minutes later...  good thing I like it
Nice!  One of my faves — and I landed here from PSD today.  Much prefer this to Elvis Costello....
This is the first cut by the BKs that I didn't think was just butt-kicking.  This is tedious, plodding and tritely lyriced.

It's a traditional chord progression; and I think you are referring to "Don't Let Me Down" by The Beatles, not "Don't Bring Me Down" by E.L.O.
friggin sloppy guitars...makes Kurt Cobain sound like a technical genius.
I don't get the hype - although I guess I really haven't given them a fair chance - just doesn't appeal to me.  I liked it the first time around when it was called The White Stripes {#Stupid}

Today at Lollapalooza, Grant Park in downtown Chicago, Illinois:

1st  seems that copied the damn lights scene of another band that now is a bit "lost in itself."
2st: I do not like the drummer style.
3st do not like the scratchy sound of distorted guitars and too yellow lead-guitar, voice seems ok.

4st  do not like the overall sound produced, is even worse live than in studio.
5st  What at first may seem a sound energetic and attractive, it becomes tiresome after a while (like a garage band), and becomes a great nuisance.
6st  seems that some members of the band are "dazzled" in themselves.
7st  have in fact some interesting songs, but far from the fame that allegedly are assigned to them.
8st  A band full of "automatic", a very basic way of playing, no place to recreate, improvise, far away from what I consider to be a virtuoso musicians.
9st  I'm sorry to say this: but what happens is that many of the songs of this band is a dish you do not like to repeat.

Definitely hear  "Don't Bring Me Down" to a degree but it's hardly copyright infringement by any means. Good tune.

The grinder.
i wish i could say to who i want to say what i want to say.
usually like this band enough..can't get my brain around this tune tho...
Everybody seem to talk about the beatles-resemblance,
am I the only one hearing a lot of neil young guitar in this (dead man soundtrack)?

Ps. love this tune.

Not sure.  Saw them at Bonnaroo and I think they played this song.  Fantastic show.

COUGH ... not enough!!

No, I wouldn't shoot them..  But this just is a total lack of originality, this song has taken another's identity

IMHO, I disagree.  It vaguely resembles "Don't Let Me Down," and only where the Keys sing, ". . .doesn't mean a thing to me."  Otherwise, your assertion begins to fade between stanzas. . .

Great song. Rip off conspiracy theorists: Get over yourselves, haters.

I like the song, but that's because it sounds just like Don't Bring Me Down, and I love that song
Why I never found a version of this song live on youtube?
heartbreaking for me. love this.

Don't let me down...
Is this really the only song worth listening to off of this album?
Damn, I love this band.  Something about them....original and edgy.  Another 10.
Too many Black Keys songs in RP.
BILL'S LIVE (now)...
and on a good roll!

HOMEGROWN, I assume!

This band never disappoints...things may not be the way they used to be, but this band keeps getting better. {#Cowboy}{#Chillpill}{#Motor}{#Fire}
Pretty good. I've seen their name about, I'll have to check them out.

I used to live in Akron. "Rocks" isn't the word I would use for it. Can you still catch the fine odor of rubber on a good day? I didn't know they were from Akron!

Their new album is excellent.
Ooooh!  Yay!!
I am surprised to see this group here, usually a little too rough around the edges for here; but this is one of their slower songs.{#Meditate}
