Picture yourself
Set up for good in a whole other life
In the mystery zone

Make us a house
Some far away town
Where nobody will know us well
Where your dad's not around
And all the trouble you look for all your life
You will find it for sure
In the mystery zone

Times that we met
Before we met
Times that we met
We'll go there
To the mystery zone
Ah the mystery zone

There goes the rider
At gates of dawn
He takes no prisoners at all
He'll be there on his own

What gets him gone
Off down that road
Is something he don't understand
Ooh! The mystery zone

Maybe all he wants
Maybe all he needs
Is to know that the sun don't set
On the mystery zone

How come it feels so familiar
When you never been there?
How come it seems so unreachable
You never tried to find
Never tired to find the mystery zone
Mystery zone, oooh!

All of the people
You used to run into but never do now
They took off for the mystery zone

And when you know love
When you find it for real
It contains the emotion sense of
Everyone ready
Your cover was blown
You weren't there but you were
Ooh in the mystery zone
You weren't there but you were
You weren't there but you were

Openin' windows
Doors never close it's the fresh air fiend
It's the information troll

We'll pack a bag
Sendin' it off just some things that never fit right
To the m...
And we'll send it ahead as a test so we'll know
Call it up when it gets there
"What's it like in the mystery zone?"

The times that we met
Before we met
We'll go back there
Oh, times that we met
We'll go back
We'll go back there
The mystery zone
To the mystery zone
The mystery zone
Oh the mys-

Really nice song, 9/10
Chef d'oeuvre avec ce retour guitare envoûtant  Merci à RP de m'avoir fait connaître ce groupe SPOON que je connaissais pas il y a encore 2-3 ans

This is harder rock? You’re kidding, right?

There are a few I rate below 7, but most of the time not far enough to actually bother rating, But, yeah, there is a reason I been listening for how ever long (looking back I joined on 12/25/2001, but I know I listened longer before joining up).
Very brave ending.

I'll echo the love for BnR, in fact I'd love to see a documentary made about Radio Paradise, or even an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience devoted to the Goldsmiths.

I will say that I utilize the entire rating zone, from 1-10, and try to keep the bell curve centered at the 7 range.  I usually rate new-to-my-ears tracks at a 6 unless it really grabs me, it's a mental note that "this track is in the 'Mystery Zone' - this one's an 8...Long Live RP and our continued blessing at this musical oasis!!
Haters? * shrug * Hey, it's teh intarwebz! Just bumped this song from 7 to  8, and clicked through to buy the CD on Amazon.

Great band who deserve better recognition over this side of the pond.  No-one I know has ever heard of them.  Till I point them to RP, that is.

I get it.
Reference to the Beatles. Is that too obvious to say?
Cars-ish. Maybe not the voice, but melodically, Cars-ish.

Love Jam & Spoon - longshot that we'll hear it on RP, but nice to be reminded of them in these comments.

I love their amazing talents! I love how he bends and stretches his voice — and the killer timing of it — to tweak & boost the waveforms

I do think so aswell, "rainy taxi" is one of my favourite songs on it, quite a "soulful" album {#Roflol}

...wonderful song, of a real wonderful band from Texas. Not really known in germany {#Drool}... a very unique band with a unique sound! Thanks for playing it! {#Guitarist}

Ah, Bill faded it out this time. I kind of miss the normal ending, but I'd imagine said ending makes it mighty hard to stick the song in the middle of a set.
Can't understand the hate fest for this song/group.  Heard it early this morning, and then downloaded the rest of the album, along with another.  They are innovative, creative, original.  I'll give it a ten to offset you haters.  Thank you very much.

Well, do you mean a spoon that you eat with, or a spoon that you do when you're 'courtin'?
Please make it stop. lol I don't dig this tune at all! I won't turn radio off for I know something better is coming.

Took me active listening of two albums - started with this one actually.....rest is history!
Such a great band and awesome tune!  God have they grown on me - went from one album to all of them but one!

This song just ended a very rare streak of 15 straight songs with a rating of 7.0 or higher... from Delerium's "Silence" through Wilco's "Can't Stand It".  WAY TO GO SPOON!

Their musicology was not fed with a SPOON,
but rather a fork...

Sooooo boring!!!

I heard it dozens of times.  The vocals of this song just aren't resonating with that odd little bit of me that loves every other Spoon tune they've ever crooned.

This is one of my very favoritest songs in the entire universe.
That's a funky and LCD Soundsystem-like beat they got going on...FORKing good infact

Spoon at San Diego Street Scene 2008.

I only caught the end of their set, but I saw them 2007, and what I saw of 2008 did not disappoint. Sorry for the low quality picture, my camera wasn't agreeing with me.

Yeah, but he keeps perfect time—what it's about, yes? Listen to Adam Clayton some time—same thing.

Agreed! They don't release the same album over and over, they change it up, but they still manage to keep their signature sound. This recording is a bit stripped down compared to their previous album, that might be a little jarring for Spoon fans expecting a bigger sound, but it works for the songs.

BillG, what are you eating before you go to bed? Weird dreams, dude. {#Nyah}

I just got this album and love it.
I don't know, I try to like this band, but the guy's voice just grates on me.
Easily the most overplayed band on RP.  They keep my mute button shiny.  Solid 1.  (Solid waste.)

They do continue to grow - i really like this cd
Zoiks, Scooby!  We're in the "mystery zone."

(And we would've gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for you meddling kids!)
