sucko-barfo is an overqualification for this!!!! {#Puke}
I love how tight this band is. Excellent vocals and nice instruments.

What condiment do you put on haggis?

Scottish salsa.
Never heared this before! Very beautiful!
woww niceeee....that  good surprise ¡¡¡¡

The title translates to "Evening sun" - kind of apropos for music of such mixed heritage!

When I realized that this wasn't more Santana, this caught my ear.  An easy 7, but, if I listen more, my rating could easily go higher.

It shouldn't work, but it does - these guys are stars throughout Scotland, believe me, and even beyond. I've seen them twice at Nottingham in a small venue and they're an absolute hoot, great fun.  The band is a genuine mix of Irish, Scottish, and Latin American musicians, and technically the dog's bollox. This is just so typical of modern Scottish music, which is characterised by cultural and stylistic fusion (see also Peatbog Faeries, Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Afro-Celt Sound System, and many others).

"Ranchero music"? ROTFL!

An easy 9 from the Albaphile Nottingham jury.

Oh man, I like that!!
They're great, but what I really love is to hear Bill saying "Salsa Celtica, on Radio Paradise...", it sounds SO COOL!!!! :)

I like this music! Maybe its not original, but for me its ok.!!
Hey - it's driving down Boliche Blvd on any day of the week

OLA! {#Dancingbanana}
Dancing in the pool in the full moonlight...{#Tongue}
Well it's eclectic, but not much else. 3.
I have no idea what they're singing about (seems like he says "with flavor" at some point) but I really dig it.
Oh where is the margarita?

There are numerous localities where salsa is not on the local radio... Radio Paradise is on the internet which means it is in a lot of localities...

Quieres bailar
Oye ven dame la mano

Quieres amar
Oye que te llevaré

Quieres bailar
A una isla bonita

Quieres soñar
Oye quieres soñar

Quieres bailar
Oye pa´ que vuelvas a encontrar

Quieres amar
Esa magia perdida

Quieres bailar
Pa´ que vuelvas a soñar

Quieres soñar
Y ponerle amor a la vida
Dale duro, dale mambo

Ven conmigo, ven conmigo, vamos
Ven conmigo mamita,
No te me pierdas
Dame la mano
Quieres bailar
Oye dame la mano mamita

Quieres amar
Que yo te llevaré

Quieres bailar
A una isla bonita

Quieres soñar
Donde el sol nunca se vuelve

Quieres bailar
Pa´ que vuelvas a encontrar

Quieres amar
Esa magia perdida

Quieres bailar
Pa´ que vuelvas a soñar

Quieres soñar
Y ponerle amor a la vida
Quieres bailar conmigo, cariño
En el norte de escocia lindo, como no

The RP mix is so subtle and smooth, so lovely. All the — ANY — Latin music you play is just jarring and disruptive. IMHO. Not a fan of STACCATO rhythm. Yuk.
This is just FUN! Scottish salsa - the two genrés couldn't be more opposite, but it works so well... And with a touch of big-band swing, to boot!  I like this a lot.{#Dancingbanana}

Saw this bunch in Nottingham  3 years back and they were feckin' brilliant - a big mixed band with a cheeky and chatty Columbian guy in the lead, chatting up all the girls from the stage. Seriously danceable, and I say that as someone with two left feet. They're back here next week and I really can't wait.

Their 15th anniversary this year - it's amazing to think that they've been around so long but only in recent years have they achieved the exposure and fame they deserve. These guys and gals are seriously big in Scotland.

Ah, Salsa: the vertical expression of a horizontal desire ;)

Edit: saw them in Nottingham  last week at a small venue on the university campus and they were as good as 3 years ago, though they had a new lead singer from Cuba (as was the main percussionist). Highly recommended as a live show.

We saw them playing in Amsterdam about 10 years ago, and were just swept away. They are so much fun!

I was fortunate to see in the new year with Salsa Celtica performing for us! They were playing at Edinburghs Hogmanay party.

Our esteemed Bill just mentioned on the air the fiddle in the band is an indicative the band is from Celtic lands.

A Cuban style known as 'Charanga' has been using a fiddle since at least the 1910's. In the 70's charangas were played by many Salsa bands, including—of course—Fania All Stars, and Charanga 76. Additional Info in the Wikipedia entry:

I suggest a good psychiatrist to work on the repressed rage and to help you find balance in the mean-time, perhaps an anti-anxiety like Lexapro, etc. Oh, yes, and a daily dose of Radio Paradise, the best anti-anxiety on the planet. {#Meditate}

Very fun Tune!  I'm trying not to dance at my desk!
I'm married to a Scotsman and he'd be very proud....     I can hear the Celtic twists throughout but I never would have expected this was a Scottish group.   They're all just a little off center which is why they're such an amazing group of people!!!!      Donald—-where's your troozers?

The band sounds pretty tight ... I am wondering about other tracks which show a true medley of the styles (i.e., a true 'Salsa Celtica'). This specific number is a straight ahead 'son cubano', IMHO. I guess I'll check out the other tracks ... nice to hear some "Salsa" here :-) Maybe it would be too much to ask for 'Salsa Brava', from the original creators of Salsa ... how does one suggest tracks here? {#Whisper}

Is anyone else hearing Celtic Crossover somewhere in this track?!!

Look at the band title - they do what it says on the tin :o). This is a bunch of mostly Irish and Scottish musicians, with a Cuban lead singer and one or two Spanish/Latin women I think. I saw them at a small venue at Nottingham University 2 years ago and they were absolutely terrific - you wouldn't think Salsa and Celtic sounds would mix, but they do, and do very well. Highly danceable. SC are a good example of modern Scottish music, which liberally mixes Celtic and many other traditions to produce a vibrant mélange that's both traditional and modern. Scotland has to be home to one of the most exciting music scenes in Europe, IMHO.

I've nagged a few times on this board for them to be played here, and it's great that RP has finally given airtime to them - just my luck that I was out of the office when it came on.

OK I wanna hear one of their salsa songs that has bagpipes in it.  Cuz I can't conceive of that actually working, but I do enjoy being surprised.
