How come the stars shine so bright
Here in this night, it will not end
There's a boy and a girl
Who know all the wrong words
And you and I need no more
It's so good to be alone with you
It's so good to be open eyed
They won't know us anymore
Once we step back into
This old house
In this old house
Where every door is open
Well listen real close
This old house
In this old house
We know there's more to this than there
The nation of the two
In this old house
This old house is where we
Consider it gone and the same
Now, there were days when we would fall
Those guiding stars would shine no more
Oh it's all right with me
We just don't talk it over
Stay the rest of this day in this bed
It's so good to be alone with you
It's so good to be open eyed
And they won't know us any more
Once we step back into
Oh, this old house
In this old house
Where every door is open
We'll take it real slow
In this old house
In this old house
We know there's more to this than there
Never leave this old house
Oh, in this old house
We know there's more to this than there
Never leave
This old house
Oh, in this old house, this old
We know there's more to this than there
We'll never leave

Wow - this really builds on Shakey’s original.

I hear a lot of Nick Cave. Silvert however is unique, but Nick and Madrugada play well on the same tape in the car.
Yet another new song and artist for me to look out for, Bill and Rebecca. Thank you again! There's something here in the tone and phrasing that reminds me of early 10,000 Maniacs.
Anyone get that?

Sometimes people treat music like wine. To describe it to someone, they compare it to things familiar.
Why is people so eager to make this sound like as if sasomething else, the voice, the style etc? Every time some Norwegian artist make something likeable abroad, people starts comparing it to something else and it freaks me out. What is this about? That we are 5million only and still manage to produce more than anyone one the planet pr.capita? Just take it and enjoy it. It is music, and it began with a rhythm where it comes from does not matter. . This is original music.

I hear a heavy Nick Drake influence.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I have a good tenor voice, but if I could sing like him, I would be happy indeed.

That sez may be but Sievert has talent while Eddie should stick to tying his shoes.
It never occurred to me till now how similar Sievert's voice is the Eddie Vedder's.

One of my favorite DIY home improvement shows.

I hear the Natalie flavor that you speak of, I love 10,000 Maniacs. :) but this Madrugada fooled me for a moment, I thought of Eddy Vedder... Into the Wild kinda vibe.

(oops, and now I see, I meant to reply to the person who made comment on our Canadian mentioned above)

Yes... but it has a pedal steel in it!
The intro sounds like "Moonshiner" by Uncle Tupelo, and then it disappears completely.

Miss you guys so much...
Nice, not that dark sound they use in a lot of their songs.
The voice is just so rich. I had never heard of Madrugada until I found RP, now I have quite a few of their CDs; fantastic stuff.

The intro sounds like "Moonshiner" by Uncle Tupelo, and then it disappears completely.

Très bon groupe, norvégien,(je crois), très peu connu, mais très bon, excellent album.

I think I prefer Hoyem Sivert's older voice, but a few more listens to this might change my mind.

I don't remember ever hearing this track. Thought it was "new" Madrugada! Bill should play this one more often!
More Madrugada, please!

I just love Madrugada. It's a new discovery for me - thank you, RP!

My finger is instinctively poised over the mute button for every song that begins with a harmonica, dreading it will be a Neil Young song...... Ahhh, I breathe a sigh of relief when it is any other band. This is nice — I like the singer of Madrugada's voice.
Is that Harvey in the foreground?

Nice one, friend. I can't believe he's got a "Greatest Hits" out - 3 CD's, for God's sake...
