Amapola
My pretty little poppy
You're like that lovely flower, so sweet and heavenly
Since I found you
My heart is wrapped around you
And loving you it seems to beat a rhapsody
Amapola
The pretty little poppy
Must copy its endearing charm from you
Amapola, Amapola
How I long to hear you say, "I love you."

Count Basie is always a 10 for me.
I love this style of jazz.  The lyrics are completely irrelevant - the music just does something to me.
Love!!
I'm no fan of jazz but I can't resist that tune : gold !

My highschool jazz band ROCKED! The band was so good and so loud we often got to play dances for oldies at the American (pro-nounced 'Merkun') Legion. We'd play One O'clock Jump maybe 6 times a night. I had to tape my fingers, or they'd be bleeding by the middle of the second set! (I play string bass)

I played trombone and this was a great favorite!
Brilliant! Thank you so much, RP!!!!
This reminds me of good times in high school jazz band. And.....it makes me miss my mom.
Class !!!!!
Beat ut it full.......8....

C-L-A-S-S-I-C.
Lester Young, according to Charlie Parker, was pretty much his main influence.

I'm growing old....me liking this alot!!! 8.
I grew up with listening to my dad's major interest in big bands and classic jazz. As a teen I grew into rock and roll and "bandstand", etc. but, like my cousin reminded me when she quoted my aunt that whenever Basie came on her feet automatically started a-tappin'.
I have been listening to RP for about 5 years now, and I say: Bless Bill's ears, and his courage to send out good music of all types. May good music always bless our ears and protect our sanity.

One thing about great jazz - it's never old.{#Bananapiano}

my job has a strict anti-rug cutting rule.
The thumping double-bass line reminds me of the marching ants from the Tom & Jerry cartoons.

Classic Basie band with Lester Young on tenor, Jo Jones on drums, Walter Page on Bass, and Freddie Green on guitar. Worth seeking out is "Lester Leaps In," written for Young's fertile imagination. I recall reading a Rolling Stone review of a Basie reissue, and the critic (either Griel Marcus or Lester Bangs—but don't hold me to this {#Lol}) said that Young was "the hippest dude that ever lived."
This is swingin' man!!!{#Bananapiano}
I just love knowing that my mom (now passed) undoubtedly tapped her toes, smiled, twisted her shoulders, and bobbed her head to this when a wee lass.

Hard not to like this -

I am not a big fan of this music, but this sounds like they had a lot of fun, and that makes it very nice!!
How can you not love this?
How About "Wind Machine" by Sammy Nestico and Count Basie?
This is great - more of this please  :-)

Mo coolah mo jazzah.

LOL! think they would care about this now?

from Wiki; It was reportedly titled "Blue Ball", at first, but a radio announcer feared that title was too risqué.
EXCELLENT!
Class is class.
