When I grow up
I want to be a forester
Run through the moss on high heels
That's what I'll do
Throwing out a boomerang
Waiting for it to come back to me

When I grow up
I want to live near the sea
Crab claws and bottles of rum
That's what I'll have
Staring at a seashell
Waiting for it to embrace me

I put my soul into what I do
Last night I drew a funny man
With dog eyes and a hanging tongue
It goes way back
I never like that sad look
From someone who wants to be loved by you

I'm very good with plants
When my friends are away
They let me keep the soil moist
On the seventh day I rest
For a minute or two
Then back on my feet to call for you

You've got cucumbers on your eyes
Too much time spent on nothing
Waiting for a moment to arise
The face in the ceiling
And arms too long
I'm waiting for him to catch me

Waiting for it to embrace me oh

Same here!  Her voice seems to be growing on me.  IDK. I am starting to like it.  Thanx RP!

I do (know) and I don't ( like it).
I like this almost as much as the First Aid Kit version.
Posible translation;

I'm a lumberjack, and I'm okay.
I sleep all night and I work all day.

MOUNTIES:
He's a lumberjack, and he's okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

BARBER:
I cut down trees. I eat my lunch.
I go to the lavatory.
On Wednesdays I go shoppin'
And have buttered scones for tea.

MOUNTIES:
He cuts down trees. He eats his lunch.
He goes to the lavatory.
On Wednesdays he goes shopping
And has buttered scones for tea.

He's a lumberjack, and he's okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

BARBER:
I cut down trees. I skip and jump.
I like to press wild flowers.
I put on women's clothing
And hang around in bars.

MOUNTIES:
He cuts down trees. He skips and jumps.
He likes to press wild flowers.
He puts on women's clothing
And hangs around in bars?!

He's a lumberjack, and he's okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

BARBER:
I cut down trees. I wear high heels,
Suspendies, and a bra.
I wish I'd been a girlie,
Just like my dear Papa.

MOUNTIES:
He cuts down trees. He wears high heels,
Suspendies, and a bra?!

[talking]
What's this? Wants to be a girlie?! Oh, My!
And I thought you were so rugged!

[singing]
He's a lumberjack, and he's okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

He's a lumberjack, and he's okaaaaay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

I have no idea why the Monty Python song came into my head. . . but I thought I'd share. . .

Anyway. .  it's still a rare 10 from me!
Reminds me a little of Laurie Anderson in a way.

Really enjoyed BassNectar's remix found here:

ha, just noticed a pattern here, after 5 years, still this song after travis (side). but they did add trouble man (gaye) in between

"Signor Ravelli's first selection will be, 'Somewhere My Love Lies Sleeping', with a male chorus."
This piece certainly deserves an RP Dead Finks Don't Sing-Award for its deliberately quirky, yet thoughtfully composed naive mundane lyrics, gutsy minimalistic arrangement and that delightfully wretched, neck-wringable voice ....

So wonderfully, tastefully awful and intriguing. Great stuff, RP!

Not really; what I honestly meant was "give it a shot."  Many people are making a good living recording things I think are garbage, while my favorites are considered garbage by others.  Such is the way of the world.

So, if you want to try something, give it a shot.  You might surprise yourself.

Man, do I love her voice or what?  (Hint: Yes, I do.)
When he grows up he wants to be Peter Gabriel!

To be honest, love, when you grow old, I would suggest you hope you're a better singer.

Perhaps in a context of the album this is good. As for the track itself that voice sounds acid and disturbing.

She's not quite that good, either, but far better than Yoko.  Gotta give the Beatle-killer props, however,  The woman was truly "avant-garde."

You expect it to go one way with the notes and it does the complete opposite, so the song itself keeps a listener unbalanced and a little bit unnerved.

Oh, heck -  I'm no expert. I just love the music.{#Whistle}

What she said. especially: "Spooky, techno, and that VOICE ..."   Fever Ray gives me goosebumps.
Like how it pushes at the edges.
The pronunciation kills it.

I love this song and Fever Ray in general, but how come only Fever Ray is played and not the Knife?  Are the Knife a little too abrasive for RP?

I love it in all its weirdness.
I guess this came up in my PSD because I love the version by First Aid Kit but I despise this original;
I've hit PSD twice and I can't get it to stop. I am stuck in Fever Ray hell.

Don't like this one either.  It gets under my skin.

Started at 6, now and 8.

Wonderful track!
I like the album cover art. Waiting to see it this sticks. Could go either way.

Dig
Nice
Love this.  This is why I listen to RP.

After being exposed to unusually high levels of Scandanavian musical sensibilities, mild-mannered Karin Dreijer Andersson

Karn aka Fever Ray

can transform into the INCREDIBLE FEVER RAY!!!!!!

Fever Ray

I can dig this
Her voice hurts my ears....
Yoko, is that you?
Ehhhhhhh, naaaaaaaahhhh, I don't think so.  Not today.
First Aid Kit..MUCH BETTER!!!

I haven't been a big Fever Ray fan though I love Avery Tarre and Animal Collective. However, this song is wonderful and I may just have to pause and give her another chance.{#Clap}8
love the album cover!
Best enjoyed with the bass cranked way up so you can feel it in the bones.
Reminds me of swimming in a lake at night during a thunderstorm

This is some weird ass music.  I feel like I would enjoy it more if I was to have a nice J though  {#Devil_pimp}
i love a lot of singers with "bad" voices - tom waits, bob dylan, neil young, etc are all my favourite vocalists... but something in this timbre actually disturbs my ears. kinda weird.

And you guys make fun of Morrisey's voice?
Um, nothing else to say 'cept No Thanks, so here, let me say it

No Thanks

sometimes I even prefer ABBA....

I find her voice intriguing.
I think I'm gonna have to try a whole chunk of this stuff. {#Ask}
you scared me... i heard that voice andI thought you were going to start playing Tegan and Sarah.....this is okay....Tegan and Sarah  are not....ever!

I love Karin's voice.
Any chance of some of some of the stuff she did with  'The Knife' please Bill?

Well, the girl in the video is a model not the singer—-(someone on youtube said the video is about a girl cleaning the pool while on 'shrooms)
Her voice still evokes these artists for me a little: Kate Bush Brian Eno Genesis P-orridge.

Demon offspring of Sugar Ray?

On the other hand - how about this one. . .

Also, every time a song's ratings are showing a bimodal distribution (that is distinct love/hate zones), I know Bill has done something right :oD.

Can anyone explain the swimming pool shaman in the music video

I just happened to hear Brian Eno circa "Here Come the Warm Jets" on my Ipod the other night and this makes me think of that —-I like the synth instrumental part. It definitely caught my attention.

There's wierd, and cold and mechanical sounding... like Devo.  And that's likable.  This is wierd cold and annoying.  Like "how to manipulate your voice so that you can rub people the wrong way"......
oh...Heeeey... now Devo is on!!!
Uhh........NO{#Snooty}
I like it in all its weirdness.

If you take 2 Advil you won't have to take 12 of those Sandoz your taking a day.

Queeah, is right, but I like it, too. Could I explain why? I don't know.
Queeah.  I like it and it annoys me at the same time.  I'm enjoying the ride if nothing else.
Not into this one, frankly. Give us something with warmth and soul next please.
Love it.
