The thing I like about you
The way you which you do
The thing I like about you
God or the Devil, oh, could not have made you up
Two must have worked as one together
So good, just want to eat you up
Nothing like the real thing
Lick your sticky fingers, boy, and sing for your dinner, sing
Come on, pretty baby, make me lose my mind
Everybody get together, gonna make love shine
CHORUS
Do you know what it is to feel the light of love inside you
When all the darkness falls away?
If you feel the way I feel then I believe we have the answer
That I've been searching for tonight
Love me, baby, love me, baby, shake me like a monkey, baby
I'm forever, I'm yours, yours, yours, yeah
Forever I am
I, I, I can't stop thinking about you
Yeah, yeah, yeah, why would I want to?
I like my coffee with toast and jelly
But I'd rather be licking from your back to your belly
I, I, I, think that I'm going to
CHORUS
Cigarettes and coffee, broken hearts and being lonely
Little girls and ponies are the things that go together
Yes and no, you have to choose, Romeo and Juliet
The hangman and his noose
You and me, we go good together
Kiss, kiss, make a wish
Hope that it comes true
But I ain't waiting for the world to change
Gonna change the world for you
Come on, pretty baby, make you lose your mind
Everybody get together, gonna make love shine
Do you know what it is to feel the light of love inside you
When all the darkness falls away?
If you feel the way I feel then I believe we have the answer

Love me, baby, love me, baby, shake me like a monkey, baby

Forever I am

I don't get all the DMB put-downs here. This song is a good rocker. Can that drummer roll or what? Those comments about Dave being "an annoying little turd" are really inappropriate. So go listen to the Red Hot Chillie Poopers, but why not lay off the vitriol? Ain't nothing but a song, he isn't trying to steal your wallet.
It's a monkey parade! What's next? The Stones?
this.
college in virginia, early 90's, dmb put on some great shows. then it just got LAME. no thanks.
and this song is just afwul.

This Monkey song really rocks! Thanks for a great monkey set.
Great band of musicians. Some of the finest. This song...along with most of Dave Matthews...is extremely annoying.

They put on a great show, but I was appalled by the behavior of the audience. Gettin' groovy and cutting loose is cool, but moshing and creating a mob scene? No. People got hurt, had to be rescued by security. Disgusting.Bill have a bad monkey experience?

What's up next, Mickey's Monkey? As much as I like Smokey Robinson, I hope we get the Mother's Finest version. Don't let our Monkeys down, Bill!
He's trying too hard on this one. Doesn't work. Sorry.

Good, but rather tedious.
To Sense Worth: I'm not a huge DMB fan—tho' Stefan Lessard and Carter Beauford are an amazing rhythm section—but I just don't get all the hate here. Gee whiz, folks. If you don't like it, change the channel. That said, I think this album rocked a little harder than his previous efforts if only so they could get the untimely death of LeRoi Moore out of their system. So much of Big Whiskey & The GooGrux King, "GooGrux King" was Moore's nickname, is about him. I think you let people mourn; I think you let them manage their grief—and to our benefit DMB managed its grief by making this remarkable album.

Reminds me of Word Up. I'd give it a 1 but I like the Mardi Gras cover.
Yet again RP proves to me that there is an exception to every rule. I don't feel the need to put on my own music. This is outstanding, for DMB.

I like some DMB, but this sounds conformist, lazy, lame, filling gaps sort of track.
Can we make this a DMB free zone please? The musicians are talented but he has to be the worst singer period

To the rest who never liked DMB but like this song and vice versa, perhaps you can explain what this song is trying to be? There's a whole Vegas vibe happening - a kind of roided up funk that befuddles explanation. And the words - what is this man singing about? Can someone - anyone suss this out?
Hey...there's that douchebag health insurance broker, rocking out to this tune as he stiffs our department by delaying reimbursements.

There's this guy who worked at the local store my wife and I used to visit. Nicest guy around. He was about 6' tall but quiet, soft spoken, wouldn't hurt a fly.
We went into the store one day and he looked a little banged up. We asked him what's up. He had gone to Mexico for some holiday or other and stayed in one of those posh resort hotel things. A guy down the hall had a pet monkey that was apparently going through some hard time with the whole mating thing. This monkey jumped the dude. It started around his face but then landed on the ground and then went for his leg. biting and chewing it began to crawl up.
Well I don't think I've seen such a transformation on somebody's face as he related the end of the story, as he got hold of the monkey finally (around the neck), " ... and I just squeezed ... as hard as I could ..." as he made his hands into claws. Bloodthirsty is how I would describe it, mainly because he wasn't able to finish it.

That's really too bad, I really used to like the Dave Matthews Band,
Oh no.....not another Dave Matthews song.
I once spent a week in Florida staying at a friend's beachside hotel on the cheap, and there was a band (made up of several members of the former "Miami Sound Machine") playing at the bar every night, and they played a lot of DMB covers. The experience was so wonderful that I didn't mind the DMB covers and even began to like a few of them.
That however does nothing for my enjoyment of this song which is incredibly annoying. Ok so I don't get it — "shake me like a monkey"? WTF?
