We are ready for the siege
And we are armed up to the teeth
Be careful how you live and breathe
Release what's broken underneath

How many times do you want to die
How many ways do you want to die

To feel safe again look over your shoulder
Very carefully look over your shoulder

We can laugh about it now
And we hope everything works out
Be careful how you lick your wounds
Believe the change is coming soon

How many times do you want to die
How many ways do you want to die

To feel safe again look over your shoulder
Very carefully look over your shoulder

You used to do a little but a little won't fly
Right before you hit your prime
That's when we fell in love but not the first time

Can it please you still
Were you named in your father's will
Or does it make you ill
Let us bruise their knees
We will aim straight for the feet
You will be relieved
So relieved, so relieved
Turn on full desire
Feel the sparks of the friendly fire
Misery inspires
Your throat has been cut
Several times before
Never noticed the size of the flow
Make it be ignored
To feel safe again look over your shoulder
Carefully look over your shoulder

You said you believed it but believing won't fly
And right before you hit your prime
That's when we fell in love but not the first time

And when it's all over and you open your eyes
To see the room turned on its side
You'll be lying by a note on the floor signed

The royal we
The royal we
The royal we
The royal we
The royal we
The royal we
The royal we
The royal we
Love, the royal we

The use of a symphonic sounding bass line and the breathy singing gives this band a really original sound. I agree with other comments that most of the songs by the Silversun Pickups sound the same. But it's a good sound, and it beats sounding like somebody else. I don't see any Lindsay Buckingham resemblance. I give this one a solid 8.
Nice!
I like this band a lot - I've heard a couple of tracks that don't really get me up and dancing, but for the most part, they're really good.  And I love this song...  (It got me up and dancing!) {#Dancingbanana}
I'm really getting to like this band.  Catch & Release is beter, but this song is very good. A 7. I think I'm going to have to buy this CD.

Don't know why but the loud breathing irritates me. I would like this otherwise but I just can't get beyond the overblown breathlessness. Maybe it makes it sound like he's trying too hard to impress the girls (and failing miserably.) Bleh. Just comes off as slightly creepy.

I challenge Bill to run an LB tune next to this one for comparison, for that part a set of tunes from like sounding artists   ;-)

Their voices are somewhat similar - but musically and lyrically they are very different.  I like the tempo changes in this song - though that probably is what bugs some folks about it.

well, it is good. I'd not say it rocks though. Bit too tame for that.

Put me down for "it rocks."

For The Pickups, it definitely rocks!

This band isn't too bad, but all their songs sound alike to me.

Had to check if this was Linsay Buckingham...
'kinell! That hits the spot, and no mistake. Perhaps the best track from the Pickups played on RP, and that's saying something as all the others were pretty damn good too. An immediate 8 from the Nottingham jury.

I'm usually pretty indifferent to a singer's voice as long as I like the music, but Silversun Pickups are a notable exception. Somehow, this guy's voice just doesn't cut it.

Holding lighter up in air...

I'd have to agree... it rocks.
Wow, RP is officially becoming the home of Silversun Pickups. :)  Not that I mind, of course.
Is it just me or does the singer sound like Robin Zander?
