Alas, I disagree. Maybe the whininess is gone, but he's still quavering and splatting all over the pitch. He should sing with that lady from the Be Good Tanyas, or with Buffy St. Marie. 

Loved his song with Emmy Lou Harris that Bill plays, though. He's a good writer.

Ive never really gotten Conor Oberst in any of his incarnations (Bright Eyes, solo). Nothing against him, I know he's a real talent, but he's never caught on with me for some reason.
