Yes, the entire CD is excellent.  I was hoping for more output from TRT.

So perhaps somebody should upload err recommend a song from the We Are Scientists band?

If in doubt, take a chance and buy this album. This is far from the best track - it's great throughout - but it unfortunately seems like they may have stalled in their output. Also, if you like these guys, take a listen to We Are Scientists, another band from the era with a similar vibe but a little more rocking. They're still going, but I particularly like their 2008 release "Brain Thrust Mastery."

The problem is who is running the country. Big oil, gun lobby, pharma, banks, Wall St. It's no longer 'we the people' but 'We the influence peddlers'. Funny how the biggest of them pay the least to keep the country going. And now with superpacks it's out of control.

The USA is going through a rough patch.  It is still a great country.  Things will get better.

Most of us would much prefer to deal with the USA than many of the imperial powers that have left their mark throughout history.

There has to be something right about a country that produces music like this or a president that sings the blues.

As for calling my mother a Nazi, it was simply meant as a pop-culture reference to the "Soup Nazi" episode of Seinfeld. 

In regards to the Americans as Nazi's, you are not far from the mark.  As an American, I can say with no doubt that this country has great things for the world (WW1, WW2 are prime examples), but we have also spend the last 50+ years sticking our fingers in the business of other countries when we had no business doing so.  Actions that would be called "terrorist" if taken against us are routinely done overseas and the vast majority of the American public are either willfully blind to it or buy into the hype of "spreading democracy."  Ten minutes with Noam Chomsky's Culture of Terrorism will make many things plain if any doubters are interested in doing a little of their own research. 

This country has a long history of selling\giving weapons to regimes that are no better than the ones that they replaced, but just more friendly to American interests.  How many cases of violence against the civilian populace are carried out a week in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.  If only a fraction of the reported deaths of innocents are true, it's still too many.  How do you think other Americans would react if Mexico blew up a drug shipping facility in Texas because drug runners who killed Mexican citizens were holed up there?  Would it matter that it was happening to white people instead of "brown" people?  Or how about things that happen to non-English speakers?  We don't care about them, after all, they can't communicate like civilized people. 

I really wish that the rest of the country would wake up and get their heads out of the sand.  Stop getting bought off with shitty tv and the newest electronic gizmo.  Turn off Faux News and MSNBC, turn off American Idol and Survivor.  Read a book.  Read international news.  See what is really happening around you for a chance.

Ugh...  I give up.

Your mom is right.  People judge by how people talk.  Though, in my opinion, accent may not be as important as grammar, vocabulary, etc.  Smart people with multi-lingual experience get over accents very quickly.

But many people who live only in a unilingual environment are put off by accents.  I see it all the time here on the Barbarian Coast (knuckle-dragging, oh so populist British Columbia).   Just a slight deviation from local norms in terms of accents can send many good ol' BCers into an instant state of confusion.

FWIW, both English Canadians and québécois have mistaken me for ....... American.  (I'm one proud, stubborn square-headed English Canadian albeit tri-lingual.) Once upon a time, an Argentine or two wondered if I was Chileno (bad guess) and some Chilenos wondered if I was Argentinian (better guess).

For the record....  I get all just fine with Germans. On a blind-date basis I would rather hang with Germans than most other Europeans.  And I like and trust Israelis.  How could I not?  Our personalities are too similar.......  Many Israelis are of Germanic-origin.

These young men are smart, thoughtful.  I think they are aiming for that intonation and diction that characterizes like-minded people in many large, sophisticated North American centres.  CBC, PBS.  It is like International English.  :)

I agree 100% on Golden Sand. It's a remarkable composition. It strikes me as being very daring in an age where the least common denominator rules the airwaves. I always love it when artists fly in the face of public opinion.

I also bought this album after hearing Buildings and Mountains on RP. The rest of the album is also very, very good. Definitely worth having!
