Before leaving get to the bar
No one 'round here makes you pay
Never very good at goodbyes
So gentle shoulder charge, love you, mate
Love you, mate

Salford skyline blue
Always you could fly 'round any corner
But until you do
Love you, mate

{#Kiss} great track - amazing album
Nice.
I find it hard to believe I've never rated this song till now... Sublime!
Absolutely a 10.
This is disjointed and beautiful all at the same time. Elegant and broken. Boiling and cool. I think you get what I'm getting at.
Heartbreaking.
These lyrics are heartbreaking.
Masterpiece
Very cool song.
Simply, a beautiful song...

Where hath my sweet Deadwing gone?

Wake me up when it's all over, someone. Too much more of this sort of thing and I'll be stacking the z's well before bedtime...{#Sleep}

Not a big elbow fan but this one is pretty good..!

You must have too much disposable income. My advice: have children.

  The whole album is "dedicated" to their friend....the seldom seen kid.
At least 2 or 3 songs are dedicated to him....."love you mate".

I agree.  The more I hear of Elbow, the more I love their music.  Thank you, Bill and Rebecca! {#Notworthy}

It's impossible to me not remember Peter Gabriel.

No.  It's better.
This was the best album of 2008.  And I thank RP for bringing it to my attention.

Anyone have this album? Is the rest of it as outstanding as this?
Thanks
DB

"When I introduce you, I'm gonna say, "This is a friend of mine." That means you're a connected guy. Now if I said instead, this is a friend of ours that would mean you a made guy. Capicce?"

I just bought the disc because I liked the song Weather to Fly so much, and now realize that I know quite a few Elbow songs. Thanks to RP for playing lots of selections from this disc.

The word is "too," and I disagree with you.

I read somewhere that this song is dedicated to a friend of the singer's who died. It's actually kind of heartbreaking.  Beautiful and haunting melody.  I love the whole album!

Are you guys for real,50-80 dollar speakers sound like crap

Elbow are good but not that good.Do yourselves a favour

and drop into a specialist hifi store and hear some proper speakers

I ordered the CD through this website and amazon delivered it really fast.  I like this group.

I can't say enough about the audioengine speakers for the computer,
best computer speakers I have ever heard.  RP recommended them
and I have 3 pairs, one for work and 2 for home use.  {#Hearteyes} them!

Such soothing introspection, quiet but celebrated sadness.
I don't know why , but this band, especially the singer, just rubs me the wrong way.
All I can think is Yuk!

Seems that most people just vote on songs they like or really hate. How else does this rate so high (7.5 at the time of this writing)? I give it a 3.

Did you see your own ratings before posting this? hehe, talk about like/hate.. and you really hate a lot of songs eh?
But maybe you're right.. People are just not as enthusiastic and eager to rate middle-of-the-road semi-good songs. And it makes perfect sense. {#Wink}
But that can't be why this song gets high rating?

I like it. Especially the intro. 7.

beauty
I think that the only song from this CD that has not been played on RP is Starlings.
Elbow are always good for the ears!

Answer: Because it's a really good song. Duh.

that looks like a Rubik's cube I could solve (on album the cover).  Never had a lot of luck with the original version
I'm hearing old Fleetwwod Mac, esp in the guitar. Like it.

Altec Lansing VS4121

For $50 - $80 they have a nice sound, good volume with bass and treble control and a sub woofer that can shake the room.

I've got Altecs with a sub here at work - they can deliver when needed.  Unfortunately, I can't crank 'em too often.

Elbow has always been, for me, the perfect synthesis of late Talk Talk, Radiohead and Travis. Lush, down-beat music and heartbreaking or knife sharp lyrics.
I am thoroughly impressed by this song.

Makes me glad I got great speakers a few days ago.

And by all means, go get some.

Do I hear Nights in White Satin by the Moody Blues?

You *really* should get the CD, as it sounds great and was not squashed in the mastering.

Great tune from this album.  I think this their best album since Asleep in the Back.  For those of you new to Elbow, you must check out that album.  It was a finalist for the Mercury Music Prize in 2001, which Seldom Seen Kid just won in 2008.

The only other Elbow album I have is "Asleep in the Back" and I agree, it's an excellent collection of songs.
Another great Elbow song...I really want to make everyone I know listen to this album, because it is the best I have heard in awhile.

{#Kiss}
I have to stop working now for 5 min to listen to this amazing song.

Guy Garvey has a great voice with a lot of range and emotion.I was a little surprised to see(in a video)that he is a smoker.(so was Roy Orbison)....one cigarette and my voice is shit.

Very beautiful.

Thank you Bill, I bought this cd and am really enjoying it.
Wonderful, intelligent stuff.
Asleep in the Back is a GREAT Elbow record as well.
One of my very favorite albums of 2008, for certain.

Beautiful theme.
Hmmm. First time I've heard this. I think I like it {#Yes}
Suits my mood anyway.
