Serenade me with rocks, love
No lullabies through the locks, love
I locked myself in with the band
But the music's never loud enough

Decibels in the belfry
Hey what the hell if it helps me
I put a whip to the kick drum
But the music's never loud enough

So you're gonna have to show me
How that dance is done
The one where somebody leaves someone
Woah

My orchestra is gigantic
This thing could sink the Titanic
And the string section's screaming
Like horses in a barn burning up

He plays pianos with fistfuls
Of broken Belvedere crystal
But he can't seem to forget you
And the music's never loud enough

So you're gonna have to show me
How that dance is done
The one where somebody leaves someone
Woah

He's impaling the front row
Fighting fires with arrows
And he'll act like he forgot you
But the music's never loud enough

So you're gonna have to show me
How that dance is done
The one where somebody leaves someone
Woah, woah, woah, woah, woah

I like this song a lot.  However, the line about the strings section screaming like horses in a barn burning up is really just gross.

Are you confessing that you're sleeping with Sharona?  {#Cheesygrin}

The pounding piano arrangement and vocal phrasing sounds like it was lifted from a John Lennon songbook!
Not horrible - but surely not my world!

I quit for tonight!
20 low-mediocre songs in a row
was more than enough.

My I suggest you stop sharing your beer with your keyboard ? They have a lower tollerance for alcohol than you do.......

This must be the extended dance version.  {#Sleep}
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Make it stop!!!!!!!!
Every time I hear Josh Ritter, I think it's a Nick Lowe or Rockpile song I'd never heard. Growing on me.
Is that a baritone sax I hear? I think so.
This one really stretches my little theory that "bari sax" usually equals "cool".
The song is probably still better than that theory, though.

hmm ... a gomez josh ritter show?  interesting contrast.  i have seen him live a couple times.  my peruvian husband (who is not at all into the same music i am but goes to some live shows to keep me company) refers to him as "the one who smiles a lot." .... he is a really endearing (and talented) performer.

I saw him open for Gomez this past week. An excellent live performer and a (seemingly) good guy. He nearly stole the show. This CD and the one before it (Animal Years) are both worth having.

I'm surprised it took this long for anything from this album to make it on to RP. It is a pretty good collection of modern pop!
