Been here before,

It's no 54.
Once inside,

Find your soul.
You still look the same,

Forgot your name,
I've got plans for you tonight.
Come follow me,

My dear, follow me.
Only time I feel alright,
Higher than a satellite,
If I were you I'd move tonight.
Come follow me,

My dear, follow me.
Underneath the mirror ball,
Chasing lights across the wall,

It's not you it's alright.
Only time I feel alright,
Higher than a satellite,
If I were you I'd move tonight.

I can't pinpoint why I like this song - maybe it's the three-chord repetition, or the slippery vocals, or the spacey background synths... Okay, I give up.  Why do I like it?  {#Bounce}Dunno. Doesn't matter.  And on that happy note, I'ma drop off the face of the earth for awhile.  Have fun, and play nice with the other kids. {#Sunny}

Like Belly except grungier. Thanks RP for introducing me to this great band!

Whats with this obsession to constanly compare one good band with their own sound to other bands?

Why not let every band stand alone in itself?

Dont get this.

Making connections between different things is one of the ways human beings increase their understanding of the world. I don't see any reason not to do it with music. I also don't think it takes anything away from one band to hear a similarity to another band.

Three notes amidst a wall of fuzzy guitar and imprecise drumming.. but incredibly, still listenable.
Klasse Song, super flow,
Reminds me of old Stone Roses.

I am really digging this band.  Picked up 2 of their albums including this one (thanks to all my Amazon $1 digital credits I have saved up).
What's not to like...rolls and rolls.
just downloaded rp few minutes ago and really enjoying it

Very cool song!
The guitarist really lights it up in this, especially when raging like The Edge's "The Fly..." I also think the drumming is strong and tight...
Hey Bill,
how about "Sun Baby" from HV

This time, I got shades of Yo La Tengo's "Moby Octopad"...might be the gal's singing, the buzzy distortion... Good when good n stoned!

We all miss Cynaera. Unfortunately I do not believe that she is still part of this earth.
Always enjoyed the fact that one of the great pop songs of all times comes from a punk band.

Fooled me again. Dandy Warhols, I thought.
Really harkens back to My Bloody Valentine or Slow Dive. Love the shoe gazer sound. Really good album over all as well.
I love how this song flows.
Awesome album, get it!
Sounds like a less gritty dandy Warhols.    Still, a likable song

Actually, High Violets could use a coupla shots of espresso...But I love this song and the band in general. A bit like L&R, yeah, but a bit dreamier-spookier.

I dig it madly when the really buzzing guitar comes zooming in; love the whole thing, the shimmer and hum of it, the zing of the strings~
Sounds a bit like "I can see for miles and miles"
Intro reminds me of U2. Then the song gets cool and better as it goes. I like their vibe.
Went out to Amazon and bought the two CDs from The High Violets that I could find. They have the same "feeling" throughout, which is a good thing, IMO. I played both CDs through twice, a few months back. While they didn't make my top 10 list yet, I put a few of the songs on my car stereo for those fast drives down the interstate, and have them on a local set list for those late night programming sessions.Every time I listen I find new things in their music. Good stuff! I think they are from Portland. I had several good years out there and would move back in a heartbeat if I could. Pardon the seque...
Super groovey. Can I still say that?
Was just thinking how good the wah-wah sounds at the end of this song, only to hear opening bars of Strange Brew. Apparently Bill is into that wah-wah sound, too.

Pretty standard Shoegazing going on here.  That's not a bad thing.

Love this.

yes, The Stone Roses, that is the one!

thanks, that was bugging me.
yeah, right, both The dandies as Well as The motorcycle. Nice 🍊
The have a touch of the Dandy Warhols about them (before the high female vocalist chimed in)..... therefore, I like them :-)
Thought it was The Stone Roses
Nice groove fits my mood right now... sometime three chords is more than enough...!

Really starting to love this song now...

Yes, lots of Hawkwind in this. Back in the day...
And the wheel keeps on turning and turning and turning...
Always liked this (remember it from my very early days at RP), but 5 plays in the last month is starting to make it sound a bit tired...
Catherine wheel, ...........now this,.......Bill is on a roll.  A big fat happy roll for all of us.  :D

This is a really great album overall - highly recommended if you dig this track.

I think of this and many other songs similarly—I'll always recognized them for having heard them here more than a few times, but won't necessarily buy them (tho' I did get "Wounded"). This is much like today hearing Syndicate of Sound's "Little Girl" or The American Breed's "Bend Me, Shape Me," both of which I loved as a teen but never bothered to buy.

Shoegaze rock! Sounds great!

Agreed! And while I can still enjoy those other songs - this one? Not so much.

Holy crap, you're right! Well, at least the title track of that album—a lot of the rest of it sounds like a mix of
"Itchycoo Park" goofiness and British dance hall music; next door neighbors to the Dave Clark Five.

Colloquial for "gibt es". Can't say where in Germany this comes from, though. My guess would be Ruhrpott.

Turning my headphones up so loud, the people four offices over will complain.

A solid 10 for me.

I think it's the way they open and close the guitar distortion. That, along with a steady beat and really cooool vocals, makes this song a hit with me.
I'm pretty sure from the same town (Portland OR), just a poor man's Dandy Warhols, and that ain't bad.
A nice version of sedation   ;-)
44 Down was released in 2002, not 2006.

Black Dandy Motorcycle Rockets?

Haaaa - exactly!
You got it!

Maybe I'm misremembering but.... does this sound like Division Kent?

The last post comparing this to My Bloody Valentine is from two years ago, so I'll re-iterate: Sounds a lot like My Bloody Valentine. Minus the vocals, it could almost be taken from Loveless (almost!).
Wow.  I just heard new music from Alannah Myles, and it knocked me out of my socks. GOOD stuff - it would fit perfectly here. I just love High Violets. But I adore Alannah Myles. Don't base your musical critique on "Black Velvet," because her new music transcends it (is that even possible?)

I hope this link works... Weapons

It would be great to follow this with something from Hawkwind!  Maybe Psychedelic Warlords or  Master of the Universe.
