When you get home baby
Write me a few of your lines
When you get home little baby
Write me a few of your lines
That'll be consolation
Lord Honey oh my worried mind

Left my baby
Standin' in the backdoor cryin'
Well I left my little baby
Standing in the backdoor cryin'
I never felt so sorry
Lord Honey till he said goodbye

Kokomo me baby
Kokomo me right
Kokomo your mama,
She'll be back tomorrow night
I'd like to cry in your arms tonight
Baby don't you wanna go?
Right on to Lemon Light City
Sweet home Kokomo

Go on down to the river baby
Goin' to sit down on the ground
Well I'm goin' down to the river baby
Goin' to sit down on the ground
And let the way of the water
Lord Honey wash my troubles down

Kokomo me baby
Kokomo me right
Kokomo your mama,
She'll be back tomorrow night
I gotta cry with you baby
Baby don't you wanna go?
Right on to Lemon Light City
Sweet home Kokomo

"To me, The little Freckle-faced redhead is the greatest blues singer of all time. she is pitch-perfect when she bends a note — never overly histrionic. I GET THE SHAKES when I listen to her. Ronstadt and K. D. Lang may have the superior pipes with their ringing bell-like tones, over Bonnie's smokey growl, but nobody has an ear like this woman. It's like listening to Mozart singing the blues. You just feel it — and that's what the blues is."        zalman595

Can't wait till I see her Saturday in Berkeley.

Anybody not swaying and popping their fingers is probably deceased and should be carted off.

Exactly my thoughts/feeling.

Text me so I know you're fine!...."

Was just about to write the same thing, exactly the same thing, yet you beat me to it, and now The Staple Singers---I'll Take You There; have to love this mix......

I saw Bonnie perform this, and other songs from the great "Takin My Time" album, in 1973, in Schwab Auditorium, the second biggest venue, at that time, in State College, PA.  I and my brother, Bill, have been big Bonnie Raitt fans since.  As a vocalist, slide guitarist, lyricist, Bonnie is great!
I'm an absolute sucker for back-to-basics blues sung by women with strong voices, and Bonnie gets me going from the start. 8 from the toe-tappin' Nottingham jury.
Bonnie...........nuff said
Mmmmm mmm  hmmmm!!!
the sound of Sweet Bonnie transforms my day!
She is Super
Thank you!
Thanks RP
Just courious: how wide is your repertoir?

My opinion:  Bonnie's voice is simmering.  And that was still my opinion when I saw her two years ago.
Saw this live in the 80's with solo guitarist — dazzling.
Bonnie has such a distinctive voice...  I hear the voice as I'm working and just KNOW that it's Bonnie.   This isn't my favorite Bonnie tune but she could sing about toilet paper and make it sound wonderful....

But not from way back when you knew what you were talking about.

"Sweet home Kokomo"?  Have you ever been there?!

Very nice.
Bonnie's voice is shimmering.
her best album IMHO, together with Lowell George & help from Little Feat she had a fantastic backing band!
I (heart) Bonnie. :-) Sweeet song.
I have not listened to Bonnie Raitt is ages, shame on me...Thank you Bill!

I love this album and her first (self-titled) one, too. Raw and cool....
I love it!!! Bill has been very active in expanding the music RP covers. I have seen significant improvements on the Country (I know a lot of people cringe at the thought, but I think they just dont know good country) and Classical. Once again Bill, congrats, and thank you. Also, Bonnie Raitt rocks.
BONNIE!! :bananajam:
I love this tune! This is Bonnie's best album, IMHO.
Shot straight up to a 6 just with the hand claps. . .and that was before the music had really begun! I loves me some hand claps.
