the great guitarist Pat Metheny had a nice comment for Jonatha on his website.  sorta makes me feel a bit validated in my taste

under "Pat Recommends":

"This is another “in general” recommendation. Jonatha is one of my very favorite artists and one of the best singers and performers in the world. Her shows are stunning displays of musicality on all levels and she makes great records and has been doing so for years now, all the way back to her days in the group The Story. I picked this record (which is one of her best) but it could have been any of them.  "Back in the Circus" by Jonatha Brooke"
Great live performer!  She really brought some attitude to this song live, and overall was lively, engaging, funny.  I didn't know her stuff before seeing her, and was glad I went.
pride comes before the fall>>>>>>>>>
hmmm.... = 7
The groovy bass hook in this song is WAY better than I've heard from Alanis/Sinead
...nice sound...
Yeesh, lots of people thinking alike, I thought it was an Alanis Morissette, "later, more calmed down" song that came after the jagged little pill set.
Alexandra!! That was creepy!! We must think the same...
Bought this CD based on airplay here. I'd never heard of her before. What a disappointment. Perhaps her past work is better, but there is very little here that is original or inspiring.
Alanis Morisette sound alike!!! I like it a little

Powerful voice reminiscent of Sinead O'Connor. I'd not heard this singer before, but I'll make a point of looking out for her from now on. Quite excellent. 8 from the Nottingham jury.
I like JB-but think this song sounds like it could have been included on Steady Pull. I don't have a lot of patience for artists that sound the same as they did two albums ago. Maybe I have been spoiled by Dar Williams/and or Radiohead.
I'm torn. On the one hand, I have likes her music for a long time, but on the other hand my enjoyment is tainted by her attitude towards internet radio royalties. I had a testy email exchange with her music label's rep a few months ago. And I think her earlier stuff with the story was better.
Maybe because he was played a while ago, but she sounds like a female Richard Shindell here.

I second that, and maybe some of The Story.

Saw her open for Joan Armatrading about 5 years ago and haven't thought of her since, even though she was good in concert. Like it...a solid 7 for me.
