Another great song I first heard here on RP. I love the way the story unfolds. There's a small but persistent niche of songs about death and this one fits very nicely into it.

The singer needs to smoke more.

 

Breathy, understated ballad style is how I would have described the vocals before I read all these suggestive combinations of Cohen and Waits.

 

I think the female backup helps but I'm not sure....
