Yes, for the heartless and soulless.

I was driving when this popped up on the screen, and I smiled as I heard the opening harmonics. such a nice delivery, too 9, borderline 10
Really lovely version of this.  Hope to hear it again in the future.
Skip . . .i'll wait for the reruns . . . .

- that's it, that's the comment. My ears love this. When a guitarist can make their instrument sound like a harp you know you're in the presence of greatness!
So good to hear this on RP. Ten days ago he played the De La Warr Pavillion in Bexhill on Sea in the UK with Jerry Douglas. What a treat and a lovely memory for a Tuesday morning in March.
My favourite versions of this song are either Keith Jarrett (from La Scala) or John Martyn.
Tommy E is all class! Whyndam Hill co & Penguin Cafe Orchestra warrant a listen too!!

It would be interesting to follow this with Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's "Over the Rainbow/What A Wonderful World" cover that he does. Two interesting takes on a classic song.

Ahh,  another Izzie fan.  I had never really cared for this song but Izzie's version really made me appreciate it.  This version is nice also but Izzie's is unbelieveable.

Very nicely done. Very soothing. I liked it.
A sublime take on a classic.
This is really nice and making my mellow mood I am trying to keep here, even more mellow.
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain...
Tommy Emmanuel is not only a genius acoustic guitarist, he is also one of the most entertaining musicians I have seen perform. The venue was Edinburgh's Usher Hall. Emmanuel was opening for Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings. Out strolls this guy with an acoustic. "Bring on the band!", I'm thinking. Then he plays. It was magic. The variation in pace and content was astonishing. And the musical "jokes" made the whole audience laugh out loud.

Lovely stuff.

His guitar work is clearly impressive.  But YAWN to the max.
...sixth floor, Ladies' Hosiery...
Suddenly I'm at a buffet in a hotel on Maui. The fat lady wears shows to her gray haired husband playing the guitar.
We need more  accoustic guitar instrumentals on RP but  hopefully with faster tempo.
Tommys' large body of work is well worth a look for those unfamiliar with his genius.............

I know, we were on such a roll. Until now, this just sucks.

this is JUST what i need right now... at the tail end of a stressful task late at night at work. then this comes on and wow. beautiful and soothing.
Lovely arrangement. Peace is found over the rainbow with Tommy Emmanuel.
very very nice

I bet more people would like it if it wasn't Over the Rainbow.
Yep.

He is a really excellent guitar player, but at the end, this is just instrumental elevator music, and I would like to hear less of that on RP. None, in fact.
So, in your opinion, the only music worth listening to is music with vocals?
It would be interesting to follow this with Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's "Over the Rainbow/What A Wonderful World" cover that he does. Two interesting takes on a classic song.

Seconded
Reminds me of a Les Paul arrangement on this tune, though it has other elements and uniqueness and total mastery of the geeetar as harp in Emmanuel's mind blowing playing. I bet more people would like it if it wasn't Over the Rainbow.
excellent way to end my day...
Australia's finest!

I have GOT to finally add this cd to my collection. Been looking at it a couple years. What a great piece. It costs about the same as 2 shares of Ford common stock.
What a lovely version to take the edge of of this craptasitic Monday afternoon.
I'm a sucker for acoustic guitar, but this one borders on mawkish.
Lovin it.

This guy is incredible live performer, entertainer and guitar wizard. His recordings are average, but I enjoyed every second of his live act.
I wish his studio work were as magnificent and mind-boggling as his live performances are. This does not do him justice.
I love Guitar. I wish I could play. It's on my list of things to learn. My first response at hearing the Over the Rainbow segment start was WOW!!! Thanks to Bill and who ever uploaded this.

+1 to that. It is cold and damp in the Midwest today. We need some sunshine.
More Tommy,More Tommy,More Tommy,More Tommy,

I'm with you on this one.
This guy playing this song is like when a ringer comes out to play in your pick-up hockey game, skates circles around everyone and score 20 goals. Or when they call out the F-16 to escort the Cessna 150 that strayed into restricted airspace. The F-16 would stall and fall out of the sky if it tried to fly as slow as the 150 at cruise speed. OK, I get it, he has mad guitar skillz. Maybe he should "pick on a song his own size." It sounds like this song is so easy for him that in his own head, he's simultaneously playing some other, unrelated, much more difficult song.

Glad to see you're teaching your 18 year old quality thinking. Good song for a Friday afternoon especially as rainy as it is here.
Diddling around with a classic in this manner doesn't impress me. Let's hear Eva Cassidy's version!
This is way too flowery for my taste. Too much embellishment is not a good thing in my book. The guy does play the guitar really well though.

This piece is a very cool interpretation of a real chestnut. A bit brave to even attempt it in my opinion, as a guitarist! Ten fingers way up!
