I don't care what nobody says
We're gonna have a baby
Taking off in a coupe De ville
She buckled up on navy
She don't care what her mama said, no
She's gonna have my baby
I'm taking all i have to take
This takings gonna shape me

People call us renegades
'cause we like living crazy
We like taking on the town
Some people getting lazy

I don't care what nobody says, no
I'm going to be her lover
Always mad and usually drunk
But I love her like no other

And the doctor seems to say he don't know
Where we're gonna go?
I'm a ghost and I don't think I quite know
Where we're gonna go?
Where we're gonna go?

People call us renegades
Feel like we're living crazy
We like taking on the town
Some people getting lazy

I don't care what nobody says, no
I'm going to be her lover
Always mad and usually drunk
But I love her like no other

And the doctor seems to say he don't know
Where we're gonna go?
I'm a ghost and I don't think I quite know
Where we're gonna go?
Where we're gonna go?
Where we're gonna go?
Where we're gonna go?
Where?

They gonna call us renegades, woah, oh, oh
Feel like we're living on this town, woah, oh, oh
Woah, oh, oh, woah, oh, oh

And I don't care if you don't win

I don't care what nobody says
We're gonna have a baby
Taking off in a coupe De ville
She buckled up on navy
She don't care what her mama said, no
She's gonna have my baby
I'm taking all I have to take

"Can we please have fun"
Sounds like evangelical anti-abortion ranting to me.  Prove me wrong.
Not sure how to rate this....very cool sound (solid 8), but......

"Where do these low ratings come from"  Maybe the lyrics?

Drinking and babies don't go together (solid 1). I'm a simpleton though and take words literally, so likely missed the point. I love the bell and sound of this song though.

Many of their songs are stories. I love the mood and dream-like quality of this story.

A certain amount of ambiguity provides space for individual listeners to fill in the gaps with their own imaginations, or experiences, or emotions. The amount of ambiguity here works for me.

Musically it's outstanding. When you consider that the instruments used (two guitars, a bass, and drums) are essentially the industry standard arrangement, yet they consistently manage to create songs that don't sound like the thousands of other groups using the same bits and pieces. Their unique sound isn't in elaborate effects or studio processing, it's just in how, and what, they play, and sing.

love this. very well said.
Loving those seemingly random drum smacks

Very good  Song!!
Can they do wrong?

Family, doing what they do, making music, and doing that so well.

They'll be doing that until it's time to stop.
no ,  jacks off peons......no!

Wow, has it already been 15 years? This wonderful song takes me back to when I was a young man and I just moved into the big city with a fancy new job and a fresh start.  First heard this song when co-worker played it to me in the car. Been in love with Kings of Leon ever since.
Among the hundreds of songs I’ve been introduced to by RP, this is absolutely in my top 10 most loved.
KOL = automatic 7, +1 for being a great tune...

Nice!
What?? 6.4 rating? I just can't sit still.

Wow they're tight — That rhythm guitar player and the drummer are pushin' it without rushing. No small feat.

This is Radio Paradise not Radio Perfection. Where do these low ratings come from on ANY song. JFC this is art not cabinetry or plastic surgery. Attach this to any music offered.

Jedley, it's 12 years after you posted this comment and we all took your advice and gave the Kings a chance.  Many folks appreciated their work, and they received many accolades.  Never registered with me, though.  Funny how that happens.  Cheers to all.
Like these guys, generally speaking,  but I can't hang with this one, vocals are the aural equivalent of biting on tinfoil (to me).

This song's signature tune is almost identical to that of Twilight Zone of The Golden Earring.
Great song, great band.

Or a meat thermometer in your ear.

I like this KoL song much more than others...still gave it a 2. Between this group and Elbow, well, I am glad others like them. I have no ear for either band...despite a long history of complaining, both bands are still here on RP
Upped from 2 -> 7. Dunno what I was thinking with a 2, musta been grumpy. Good tune, love the bass!
Audioslave is much maligned.  I'd listen to them before Kings of Leon :)

Haha! I remember hearing this come on every day while at work a few years back. I can't believe it hasn't been played since then. It took me a while to find it again. It's pretty good and should be played at least once a year.
Why are all you guys listening to stations that overplay tracks? This is great and if it's like knives in your brain then you've been listening to the wrong station.
Didn't mind this at first..now it's like knives in my brain
I like them :)
Crap, the LRC is down. Got to settle for silence.
These guys ROCK!!! but give us a break!! too much of this will make us hate it
and OFF come the headphones
Oh come on!!!! It's the 3rd day in a row!! Last night it was played just as I was going to sleep and I had to get out of bed and mute until it was over. Yes, it's that bad. Please, please, please don't play this song so much!!!!!
Took me a long time to like this. Its not a song that works for everybody (i have to turn it off in the office ) I'm opening my mind really wide and wait for more K of L :)
Never realised there was so much hate for this! Where has it been overplayed so much? I love it Bill! Play it twice in a row if you like.
The Kings of Leon rock, sex rocks, however the message that the virile gang members of Leon ( not Lyon ) are entitled to procreate without 2nd thoughts is disturbing. I suggest somebody U- Tube this issue to "the candidates" and see who holds the Bible.

Before you start typing, all you Kings haters can suck it!
I saw Kings of Leon at the Voodoo Chili tour and they were good. This song just doesn't do it. And this is the first time I've heard it in a while . . and it ain't as bad, in fact it's pretty good. So, while I gave it a one and complained it is played too often, it does sound better. And no, it isn't even close to Porcupine Tree as far as talent or breadth. Bill has 3 Kings of Leon Songs in rotation. PT has 45. No comparison.
Touchy subjects really piss people off! At least we aren't at war and gas prices are low. (Doh!)
You are right!!! I like K of L but they alter my nerves a little bit, just a couple of songs and I am done. BUT, they are really GOOD!!

And disturbing. Makes me think of the gimp in Pulp Fiction and Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs, and that very weird X-Files episode about the extemely in-bred Appalachian family.
Oh, dear, that X-files episode was demented to the max, eh? Gives me the creeps when I think about it- I really try hard not to.

Quite. Extremely irritatingly, this number has a viral quality that makes it stick in your brain, like chewing gum to your sole. On a recent mountain expedition I found this damn song going through my mind on a loop for 8 blasted hours, despite my best efforts to dislodge it. 2 -> 1
Why are we forced to endure this for what seems like every day? Please, please, please retire this one.

Cool. But three time in the three days (can you tell I am listening a lot)? This song is like really rich cake. I love it, but can only eat in small, infrequent doses.

Suffering from Boys of Summer-itis...a decent song being killed by extreme overplay.
OVERPLAYED OVERPLAYED OVERPLAYED
let's see, this song is a harbinger of abuse, welfare, and a heap of unpaid child support. an anthem of the dysfunctional don't care what nobody says, no I'm going to be her lover Always mad and usually drunk But I love her like no other And the doctor seems to say he don't know Where we're gonna go?

Crappy vocals, crappy lyrics, less than impressive instrumentation ... but the rythym kicks. I guess that's why I like it.
