Close your eyes to the world that you see
And open wide to the one in your dreams
There's nothing left that you wanna believe
Foreign eyes have been torn at the seams
You'd save yourself from a world without sin
You're born again with a means to an end
Drawing lines in the palm of your hand
You're holding on to all that you've planned

There's nothing here that is left to be saved
Take a bow to the warrior state
You throw yourself to the perilous static
You shut your eyes but the death is romantic
You've sold your soul but it's only a fake
You'd kill yourself for a piece of the take
You lose your mind in a world that leaves nothing
You're holding on for asylum, reaching for air

It's all you want
You know you'll never forget
Your open arms
They only seem to surrender all
It's all you know
You know you'll never regret
Your open arms
They only seem to surrender all that matters

No one needs what they think to survive
Pulled inside with an appetite blind
You feast your eyes on American sex
You sleep in shores of American bliss
Growing wings from the sorrowless excess
Your frozen eyes cut the chord to their last depth
You share your young with the wolves of a nation
There's nothing left 'til you pray for salvation

It's all you want
You know you'll never forget
Your open arms
They only seem to surrender all that matters
It's all you know
You know you'll never regret
Your open arms
They only seem to surrender all that matters

I'm the last of the messiahs
All your lost star signs

Every time I hear this song I turn it up to "piss of your neighbors" loud. It simply isn't meant to be played quietly.
A Quicksilver Messenger sorta thing...with a thickness.
My ex thinks these guys are the shite...

I'd just delete the 'the' out of that statement...

And that, kids, are why some folks are meant to be exes...
As this went on and on my fondness for it grew from 8 to 9.

Bit of an old post now - but what I believe you're 'missing' is simply being one of those folk who like it... So, in my opinion, nothing!

I quite like it - though not to a 'buy the album' level just yet
Good Tune!
keep hearing sonic youth

nice
You can listen to just this one song and you know that's gonna be a LOUD show!
Wow, that was load even at low volume.
I just LOVE so long songs! Never hear them on normal radio...
I sure thought this was The Del Fuegos when I first heard it.

Absolutely - they blew the roof off at Gasparilla Music Festival in 2019.  And Leah is a great lady -very amiable to the backstage crews.
Hell yea BRMC.  I've loved this band since I discovered them on RP back in 2003. They have stayed true to their musical mission for about 20 years now, quality stuff through and through.

Wow.  Heavy, man; but accurate, IMHO.

Solid 2. Terrible.
Huh I was absolutely positive that this is Kasabian. Solid tune!
Excellent rock!

I believe the Rebel is a model of Honda motorcycle, so presumably this is a club whose members ride solely that model, painted black.

They took their name from the motorcycle gang in the Brando movie The Wild Ones:

I rated this song a 1 while the guy was singing. Just horrible to me.
Then things changed when he stopped. it was quite likeable.
So, overall I give it a 5.
What the... The guitar riff, the drums, the ongoing mantra. Except for the lyrics, the whole song sounds exactly like "The Blood is Love" from the Queens of the Stone age album "Lullabies to paralyze" (2005).

LOVE THIS! Used it for a sword dance that was videotaped.  But the producers muted the song on the you-tube video due to copyright restrictions...sad....you would think they would want more people to hear their music.

A head banging funeral dirge rock anthem if there ever was one.
I kinda like this :)
Tasty!!!{#Music}
They have defintely better albums and better songs, for me a 7 here. Great band anyway!

Nah. Sucko-barfo. Bringing down the PSD on this one.
I've revised my rating on this song several times.  Now a 10.  Love the song and the long extended guitar piece in the last 5 minutes (of the total 9 min).
I have loved this band since their first album (thank you RP for the introduction), and they have continued to grow in great ways over the past 13 years.
I hear massive Sonic Youth influences, and that's not a bad thing.
That started my morning right!

Robyn Hitchcock with an edge....and an excellent edge at that!

Awesome.
Drummer just had brain surgery. Bless her heart.  Doing well, I see on their facebook page.
kind of ...grindy yes.

Heavens above this track got me out of my seat in another room to where PC is to turn this off.. what a cacophony of ear splitting nerve grinding annoying garbage, this is a great band but this track does them no justice at all.

The songs of this band, in the generality, are very well constructed and structuralized, and also carefully and well performed. Of the Band B.R.M.C. i detach in particular the song "American X", from the 2007 album "Baby 81", which includes a developed electric-guitar solo absolutely amazing. Both guitarists, Peter Hayes and Robert Levon Been, are also excellent performers in acoustic guitars, and the 3rd element of the band, drummer Leah Shapiro, her is a pulsating rock, flawless. In addition to the interest and musical value of BRMC, in this area of music, which i appreciate, also say that it is interesting the name of this band "Black Rebel Motorcycle Club", have been inspired from Marlon Brando's motorcycle gang in the 1953 film "The Wild One".

A great band when they get into a decent thumping groove like this
Hey, I remember Jeep, too ... but all things must pass, right?

YEAH!!!
wonderfully trippy
Spectacular!  I'm in love! {#Guitarist}
I like the guitar sound on this very much—i often like these guys when I hear 'em.
This band's gotten a new fan.
Love this song!  It's especially headphone worthy
How ironic that a group with a MC reference is playing contemporary surf music.

No worries me likey very much.  First listen 8

Followed by Beck, (the real one)

Awesome edgy hypnotic engaging tune! Bring it!!!
Not their best. It fades into a muddled memory of the band's other songs. The same chords, the same detached sneering singing...for 9:10.
Rock on Garth!

I just heard about these guys yesterday. One of the band member's fathers is Michael Been, former head of a great Santa Cruz group named The Call. So this somewhat explains the Call's song, I Still Believe on the sountrack and in the movie The Lost Boys.

Great movie and great soundtrack album.  And great to have SC featured in a movie.

Nothing wrong with a kicker rock track every once and a while.
Much like a good U2 or Floyd song, this one can sometimes catch me in ways I haven't yet appreciated — and when it does, WOW...
TASTY!

Sounds like a lovely evening out.

I can't wait to see BRMC again if they tour my way again, last time was a top, top show.

That rocked! Nice piece of sound for a Thursday afternoon.
thanks RP! This song is awesome. This is Rock Roll at its best!

I have this album and never gave this song the chance it deserved the first time round. I "discovered" it roughly a year after I bought the album. It just takes a couple listens and you're basically hooked. It's got an old school epic feel to it.
I agree thanks rp - caught my attention with this one

Cool band. Liked these for a while now. I liken them to a heavier Stone Roses!

This one's pretty good, but they have better songs.

Spot on... Rock still lives... somewhere.
These guys don't get much listen-seeking -- I have a British friend who won't even try, just because their name! -- but OMG do they kick some ass, and love those guitars! I never had a clue of their existence till RP put them on my chain of synchronicity... THANKS, RP!
Seeing them Saturday night!
